Prior to and during the\nconference, over 50 delegates and guests from Russia, Japan, Italy,\nGerman, the UK, and North America had the option for a behind the\nscenes tour of Johnson Space Center. The conference also had special\nguest visits from Astronauts Mike Fincke, Ken Cameron, and Cosmonaut\nAleksandr Poleshchuk.\n\nThe delegates and guests also were able to tour the W5RRR Johnson\nSpace Center Amateur Radio Club and utilize the club's amateur radio\nrepeater.\n\nThe three main tracks of the conference were covered in two tracks\nper day to maximize the short time span of the 4 day meeting with the\ninternational delegates. Delegates who could not attend in person\nutilized video conferencing. ARISS Benefactors such as SCaN (Space\nCommunications and Navigation office at NASA-JSC) and CASIS (Center\nfor the Advancement of Science in Space) also attended in-person and\nonline.\n\nThe three main tracks were Sustainability & Funding, Hardware\nDevelopment, and Educational Impact. Plenary Sessions were held in\nthe mornings on selected topics of great interest to all attendees.\nMembers also met informally at Ken Ransom's house (N5VHO) for a BBQ -\n\"Texas Style.\" The 20th Anniversary Dinner was held overlooking\nGalveston Bay. Much work, many thanks, and a wonderful spirit of\ninternational camaraderie was evident by the end of the week at this\nInternational Face-to-Face meeting.\n\nThe future of Amateur Radio in Human Space was discussed heavily and\nmany tasks were undertaken by the delegations to report back or\ndevelop a response. Summarizing one comment at the end of the\nmeeting, \"This week, just as with any ARISS contact, as we approach\nLOS (loss of signal), I know it's coming soon, but I don't want it to\nend.\"\n\nThe international attendees expressed great appreciation for the\n20th Anniversary ARISS Face-to-Face Meeting organizing committee lead\nby Frank Bauer, KA3HDO, ARISS International Chair and AMSAT-NA Vice\nPresident, Human Spaceflight, Rosalie White, K1STO, ARISS Delegate,\nDebra Johnson, K1DMJ, ARRL, Mark Steiner, K3MS, ARISS, and Ms. Janet\nBauer.\n\nNext year's ARISS International Face-to-Face Meeting is schedule for\nSeptember 2017 in Rome, Italy.\n\n[ANS thanks ARISS for the above information]\n\n\n---------------------------------------------------------------------\n\n\nAMSAT Space Symposium at Sea a Success!\n\nThe 2016 AMSAT Space Symposium and General Meeting held aboard the\nCarnival Liberty in the Gulf of Mexico is now history!
