    "content": "Hi!\n\nSince I first posted about Hector CO6CBF coming to the AMSAT \nSymposium in Orlando next week, I have received lots of e-mails\nshowing appreciation for this effort.  Thanks to everyone for \ntheir support!  I wanted to mention that I have already received\nsome checks at my mailbox today, in response to the request I\nmade for donations to help with the expenses related to Hector's\ntrip.  I won't list names and calls, but here is what arrived \nso far:\n\n$200 check from Texas\n$ 25 check from Arkansas\n$ 20 check from Alabama\n\nAlong with a $50 check I received from Tennessee some time ago\nbefore I went public with this effort on the -BB, this means I have\nalready received $295 toward Hector's trip.  Since I have not had\ntime to scribble a web page related to this, I will post updates\nhere on the -BB and my Twitter feed updates related to Hector's trip.  \nI do not intend on making public a list of names and calls of those \nwho have contributed, as a few have asked for anonymity - which I \nwill respect.  All contributions are appreciated, no matter how big \nor small.  \n\nA couple of hams have asked me if I would accept contributions in \nperson at the Symposium next week.  This would be OK with me.  In\nperson, cash would also be acceptable.  You could send me cash \nthrough the mail, but all standard disclaimers regarding cash sent\nthrough the mail apply.  \n\nHector sent an e-mail out this morning to me and a few others.  He\nis back in his home city Cienfuegos, after a quick trip to Havana\nso he could pick up his passport with its newly-issued US visa at\nthe US \"embassy\" (formally called the US Interests Section, which \noperates as a branch of the Swiss embassy in Havana due to the lack\nof diplomatic relations between the USA and Cuba) yesterday morning.  \nHector delivered his passport to a Cuban immigration office in \nCienfuegos today, so his Cuban travel permit can also be put into \nhis passport.  He should be able to pick that up tomorrow, and then he \nhas all the government-issued documentation needed to make the trip - \nand I can purchase his air ticket for the flights between Havana and\nMiami. \n\nThat's all for now.  Things are falling into place, with not much\ntime remaining until the Symposium.  For those not able to make it\nto Orlando, I'm sure there will be photos and videos posted from \nthe Symposium featuring Hector.
