Perhaps, I should begin with a brief\nintroduction and an outline of our project to launch Thailand's first\namateur radio satellite. RAST is the national non-profit society for\namateur radio enthusiasts in Thailand which qualifies as a charitable\nentity pursuant to a Thai Ministry of Finance declaration while the society\nis also a member of the International Amateur Radio Union.\n\nRAST has joined three Thai institutes of technology to support the first\nJoint Academy Intelligent Satellites for Amateur Radio of Thailand\n(JAISAT-1) project which has received funding from the Broadcasting and\nTelecommunications Research and Development Fund for the Public Interest\n(BTFP), which is under Thailand's regulator, the National Broadcasting and\nTelecommunications Commission (NBTC). The three academic institutes are all\nin the King Mongkut's Institute of Technology group, being King Mongkut's\nUniversity of Technology of North Bangkok (KMUT-NB), King Mongkut's\nUniversity of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) and King Mongkut's Institute of\nTechnology Ladkrabang (KMITL).\n\nIn a meeting on July 22, 2015 the NBTC committee approved state funding for\nRAST's JAISAT-1 project over a two-year period: 2016-2017. In my capacity\nas the JAISAT-1 project leader in charge of building the satellite along\nwith a technical team from RAST, I am writing to you with a humble request\nfor assistance. We currently face the challenge of finding an appropriate\nrocket for the launch of the CUBESAT satellite, one that will be within our\nlimited budget and we are interested in India's Polar Satellite Launch\nVehicle or PSLV rocket.\n\nIn addition to our JAISAT-1 satellite there are two other CUBESAT projects\nthat have received funding in Thailand, including a KNACKSAT satellite to\nbe built by the King Mongkut Institute of Technology of North Bangkok\n(KMUT-NB) and a SPACEBOX satellite to be built by the King Mongkut\nUniversity of Technology Thon Buri (KMUTT) as part of a project to \"Explore\nthe World\" using remote sensing with these satellites being equipped with\ncameras. But RAST 's JAISAT-1 satellite will be for amateur radio\ncommunications for which we are designing and building a linear transponder\nourselves in Thailand and we would like to seek your recommendations to\nhelp us to get in touch with someone who can provide a PSLV rocket to\nlaunch the CUBESAT satellite at a special rate one that we will be able to\nafford. We would very much appreciate any assistance, advice or\nrecommendations that you can make for us to help our project achieve all\nits goals.\n\nWith deep respect. Sincerely,\n\nTanan Rangseeprom, HS1JAN\nJAISAT-1 Project Leader Manager\nRadio Amateur Society of Thailand Under the royal patronage of His Majesty\nthe King\n", "attachments": [] }
