    "content": "You can't tell reliably by just looking at the serial number. My FT-847 has\nan \"old\" serial number and originally had the unidirectional firmware, but\nwhen I sent it to Yaesu for servicing (early in its life) they updated the\nfirmware to the bidirectional capability.
