I've learned a lot from the people on this list; I'm sure you\nwill, too.\n\nNo doubt there are a lot of good answers to your question, but I couldn't\nbe happier with my FT-857d. I believe it meets all the requirements you\nlisted and I use it for many of the same modes & bands that you mentioned.\n\nOn the subject of using two radios, that's exactly what I do. For linear\nsats, I use the FT-857d for transmit and an SDR to receive.\n\nFor FM sats, I have a full-duplex capable FM transceiver or could certainly\nuse an SDR to receive in that mode as well. However, I find that the\nFT-857d makes a great receive radio for the FM downlinks due to the DSP\naudio filtering and clarifier tuning (so that I'm not limited to following\nthe downlink in fixed increments).\n\nPaired with a YT-100 tuner, Signalink-USB audio coupler, CAT control to my\nPC, and all mounted in a 4U Gator box, I'm able to use the same setup at\nhome or vehicle-portable. (I have a 35ah battery in a separate box)\n\nHope that helps!\n\n-Scott, K4KDR\n\n==========================================\n\n\n\nOn Mon, Apr 16, 2018 at 12:36 PM, Peter J.
