"content": "Hi!\n\nFollowing up on this announcement that showed up in this weekend's\nANS bulletin...\n\n> The Central Arizona DX Association (CADXA) is very pleased\n> to\n> announce their special event operation in celebration of\n> the\n> Arizona Centennial during the week of February 13-19th,\n> 2012.\n> \n> They will be using the callsign of the late Senior\n> Senator,\n> and Arizona native son, Barry M. Goldwater, K7UGA.\n> \n> Individual CADXA members will be operating from their home\n> sta-\n> tions located throughout Arizona during that week using the\n> call-\n> sign K7UGA.\n> \n> However, only special operating locations from Tucson,\n> Prescott\n> and Phoenix will be on the air celebrating the 100th\n> anniversary\n> on Tuesday, February 14th, 2012.\n> \n> Operations will be on all amateur bands (160-2 meters); and\n> will\n> be using CW, SSB, RTTY, PSK31 and Satellite modes.\n\nI hope to make time to be on some satellite passes from a location\nin Phoenix on 14 February using the K7UGA call sign. I received\nthe OK from the CADXA to use K7UGA on the satellites during this\nweek-long celebration. I will post more about specific passes I\nhope to work on this day, and the first part of the week of 13-19\nFebruary 2012, when we are closer to mid-February. \n\nAt the end of that week (Friday and Saturday, 17-18 February 2012), \nI will use the K7UGA call sign for my on-air satellite demonstrations \nfrom the Yuma (Arizona) Hamfest, which is also serving as the 2012 \nARRL Southwestern Division Convention. The hamfest site is the Yuma \nCounty Fairgrounds, along 32nd Street across the street from Yuma \nInternational Airport and Marine Corps Air Station Yuma and south of \nthe I-8 freeway (grid DM22qq). I posted some information about this \non AMSAT's online calendar of events:\n\nhttp://www.amsat.org/amsat-new/fieldops/eventDetail.php?eID=629\n\nand the hamfest's web site has more details:\n\nhttp://www.yumahamfest.org/\n\nAs mentioned in the ANS bulletin, QSL requests for K7UGA QSOs during \nthat week - including the satellite activity - will be handled by the \ndesignated QSL manager, Bob K7BHM:\n\nhttp://www.qrz.com/db/k7uga\n\nA picture of the K7UGA QSL card that stations will receive is on the \nQRZ.com link above. \n\nThanks in advance go to the Yuma Amateur Radio Hamfest Organization\n(yes, a group whose sole purpose is to run this hamfest!) for providing \nAMSAT an indoor space at the hamfest for the 4th consecutive year, along \nwith letting me run outside for the demonstrations with my portable gear.\nDemonstrations will be on FM and SSB satellites both days, weather \npermitting. I plan to give a satellite-related presentation at some \npoint during the two-day event, but the date/time and location on the \nfairgrounds site will be posted on the hamfest's web site sometime \nbetween now and mid-February. \n\n73!\n\n\n\n\n\nPatrick WD9EWK/VA7EWK\nhttp://www.wd9ewk.net/\n\n\n",
