Apparently it only updates the radio \"whenever it needs to.\" For\nthe sake of education to other rookies such as myself...read on.\n\nWhen I first connected the IC-9700 to SatPC32, I tested it on a\nsatellite pass that was in range. Yoo-Hoo! Everything worked as\nadvertised, and on the first try! SatPC32 updated the radio frequency\nevery few seconds. In my subsequent observations, SatPC32 updated the\nradio frequency once every ten-to-seconds seconds, if at all. This is\nwhen I thought I had broken something for some unknown reason. This\nwas in the middle of night here in Minnesota and there were no visible\npasses for the active birds.\n\nThe following morning, after an exchange of emails with Erich to\nverify that all my settings were correct, I immediately noticed that\nSatPC32 did update the radio frequency every few seconds for\nsatellites as they became visible to my location. Aha!\n\nLesson learned: If you are testing your connection between your radio\nand SatPC32, test with satellites that are in range, not with those\nthat are on the other side of the planet.\n\nGreat program, Erich...thank you for your contribution to this great\nhobby!\n\n73,\nFRANK KARNAUSKAS, N1UW\n\n\"We have no problems, only insurmountabe opportunities.\" - FWK\n\n\n\n-----Original Message-----\nFrom: AMSAT-BB [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Edward\nRoth via AMSAT-BB\nSent: Saturday, June 8, 2019 12:36 AM\nTo: [email protected]\nSubject: [amsat-bb] SATpc32/IC-9700 Start Up Issue\n\nI wrestled with this problem for over a week trying everything I could\nthink of to change and test. I finally saw a post by one of the\ndevelopers\nof either the N1MM Contest Logging program or the WSJT-X digital\nprogram -\ncan't remember which - saying that if you use their program with the\nIC-9700 then turn OFF the CI-V Transceive function or you will have\ndata\ncollisions. I turned it off in my IC-9700 and haven't had the problem\nsince (the default is ON).\nGo to page 8-13 in the manual to see how to get to this setting.\nI'd be interested in knowing how many people had this problem.\nED, K0NW\n\nOriginal Message\nFrom: Frank Karnauskas <[email protected]>\nTo: <[email protected]>\nCc:\nBcc:\nDate: Wed, 5 Jun 2019 23:41:55 -0500\nSubject: [amsat-bb] SatPC32/IC-9700 Start Up Issue\nAfter watching Daniel, W5EKG's You Tube video, I had SatPC32 and the\nIC-9700 working beautifully on the first try. (Thanks, Daniel!) The\nradio frequency tracked the software real-time just like it should.\n\nHowever, after playing around for a few minutes (changing satellites,\nturning the main tuning knob, etc.) The radio suddenly stopped\nfollowing the frequency changes from SatPC32. The frequency\nintermittently updates after 10-20 seconds accompanied by the\nfrequency on the radio display flashing white from MAIN to SUB for a\nbrief moment. Usually nothing happens until I choose another\nsatellite then the frequency updates once then...crickets.\n_______________________________________________\nSent via [email protected].
