    "content": "Solved.\n\nOne of those gotcha moments. I had the Bencher Keyer plugged into the \nfront jack for the keyer. And... I had the computer plugged into the \nrear jack for the keyer. The plug in the back is really old... like \nabout 20 years. The plastic cover had failed some time ago and broke \noff. No worries, everything worked fine until when running some cables \nsomething pressed against the tip and ring and shorted them. Unplugged, \nfixed it and everything is fine again. That's why it was a gotcha \nmoment.
