Frank, your addition to the team will likely mark a pivotal point for AMSAT.\nThank you for your desire to make a difference and here's hoping that you will let us know about areas where enthusiastic supporters can help you, too!\nEv, W2EV\n\n On Tuesday, August 6, 2019, 09:12:23 AM EDT, Frank Karnauskas via AMSAT-BB <[email protected]> wrote: \n \n Greetings, All.\n\nAn announcement was made in the AMSAT News Service Weekly Bulletin 186\n(July 6, 2019) that the Board of Directors elected Frank Karnauskas,\nN1UW as Vice President - Development. That would be me.\n\nIn the roughly thirty days I have had this position I have drafted a\ncomprehensive development plan that include grant writing, marketing\nand public relations. The draft is undergoing review and updates as I\ngo through the process of interviewing Board members and senior\nofficers to ascertain that the plan meets the strategic and tactical\ngoals of the organization. The plan includes the basis for a Youth\nInitiative that I believe will be critically important in our fund\nraising efforts. We are surveying likely U.S. government agencies as\nwell as private philanthropic foundations that are likely sources of\ngrant money.\n\nI expect that the initial plan will be ready to share with AMSAT\nmembership for comments and suggestions. Until then, keep the faith.\n\nCheers,\nFrank\n\nFRANK KARNAUSKAS, N1UW\nVICE PRESEIDENT - DEVELOPMENT\nAMSAT - THE RADIO AMATEUR SATELLITE CORPORATION\n1402 SUMMIT SHORES DR.\nBURNSVILLE, MN 55306\[email protected]\n612-644-9174\n\n\n-----Original Message-----\nFrom: AMSAT-BB [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Robert\nBruninga via AMSAT-BB\nSent: Monday, August 5, 2019 6:45 PM\nTo: amsat bb\nSubject: Re: [amsat-bb] Is there any interest...\n\n> I'm unsure how to digest the silence. :-)\n\nWell, Ill take a crack at it.\n1) Find individuals that can find launch partnering opportunities.\n2) Find individuals that can find money\n\nNothing happens in any volunteer organization by organizing and making\nlists of things for other people to do. The only way that progress is\nmade\nin volunteer organizations is by getting behind those individuals who\nare\nin the right place at the right time and with the energy and interest\nto\ntake something on. Then support them.\n\nVolunteers are motivated when they have somethign of value and can\ncontribute actual progress and then are given support by others to\nfollow\nthat lead. Very little gets accomplished by wasted energy trying to\npush\nothers into action. The action in a hobby comes from within,\nunfortunately... Generally speaking that is. There are exceptions.\nBut\nstart with #1 and #2, and the rest will follow.\n\n> > Even a private note to say, \"yes, I think we'll be looking into\nthat\"\nwould be nice.\n\nThe more practical note with a better chance of getting done would say\n\"yes, I think that would be a great thing for you to look into\" would\nbe\nmore practical...\n\nThe point being, if you have an idea, then do it. I have found in\nHam\nradio that just tossing up and idea for others to do never goes\nanywhere.\nBetter to think of ways to move forward and do it one's self then see\nif\nanyone follows.\n\n>... in pursuing a more open project plan that would\n> make it easier for those with personal skill, resources\n> or contacts to more directly contribute to a launch?\n\nI'd say the plan is wide open to anyone that can move forward with an\nidea\nand bring home the bacon...\n\nBob, Wb4APR\n_______________________________________________\nSent via [email protected].
