"content": "I have the FT-857D & PSTRotator combination and in a few select\ncircumstances I let PSTRotator control the tuning on the FT-857D and it\nworks fine. I don't actually use CAT-control for routine linear satellite\nwork because I much prefer to manually tune the uplink so that I can stay\nexactly on-frequency. (as others have mentioned in the past, the down-side\nof CAT control is that it doesn't update the radio when you're\ntransmitting... but you absolutely can keep MANUALLY tuning the entire time\nyou're talking)\n\nBut it has come in handy when I've wanted to squeak out every possible\ndegree of elevation when making short-duration transmissions -- in\nparticular FM command packet uplinks. When the mic is only keyed for a\nsecond or two, you don't drift so far off frequency due to the lack of CAT\nadjustments during transmit.\n\nSo, it's available when you want it.\n\n-Scott, K4KDR\n\n=============================\n\nOn Thu, Jan 3, 2019 at 2:49 AM NA1SA Loon <[email protected]> wrote:\n\n> Does anyone use an FT-857D with PstRotator?
