"content": "I have had a few questions and a bunch of submissions lately. I thought \nI would clear up some of the questions about this award. I have also \nupdated the web page for the award with submission information.\n\nJust a little history, Robert W. Barbee Jr., W4AMI, was a very prolific \noperator and in his honor this certificate was created and the first \ncertificate was issued to him on June 27, 1994. He has since become an \nSK and his local club has taken over his call sign. The award was \noriginally the W4AMI Satellite Operator Achievement Award. The local \nclub asked me not to use their call sign for the award. I changed the \naward to The Robert W. Barbee, Jr. W4AMI Satellite Operator Achievement \nAward. And here we are today, finally having issued over 100 \ncertificates and over 30 of the 5,000 certificate.\n\nThis award is for making 1,000 contacts with any station any time. You \ncan say hello to your friend on every satellite on every pass every day \nand count those contacts. That being said, any contact you log counts. \nThe award has endorsements for making 1,000 more contacts up to 4,000. \nAnother 1,000 contacts will earn a special W4AMI 5,000 certificate.\n\nTo submit for the award, please email me an extract from your log either \nin Microsoft Excel XLS(X) format or ADI(F) format. Either will work just \nfine. Then wait for me to get back to you notifying you to go online and \nmake your payment. I need nothing from LoTW, confirmed contacts are not \nan issue, this award is for simply making a contact.\n\n73...bruce\n\n-- \n\nBruce Paige, KK5DO\n \nAMSAT Director Contests and Awards\nAMSAT Board Member 2016-2020\n \nARRL Awards Field Checker (WAS, 5BWAS, VUCC), VE\n \nHouston AMSAT Net - Wed 0100z on Echolink - Conference *AMSAT*\nAlso live streaming MP3 at http://www.amsatnet.com\nPodcast at http://www.amsatnet.com/podcast.xml or iTunes\n \nLatest satellite news on the ARRL Audio News\nhttp://www.arrl.org\n\nAMSAT on Twitter http://www.twitter.com/amsat\n\n",
