"content": "Back in the early 1970s, I was the only student in my Associates Degree program who did NOT yet have an electronic calculator. I have to admit to the \"entertainment factor\", however, in watching all my classmates try to negotiate a seat near an electrical outlet in the classroom during tests. LCD displays had not yet been born and the old phosflorescent displays were hard on batteries. My slide-rule didn't care about batteries, of course :-)\n\nAhhhh the good old days.... I miss some - but not all - of them.\n\nPete - N4YOT\n----- Original Message -----\nFrom: [email protected]\nTo: [email protected]\nSent: Sun, 15 May 2022 13:26:04 -0400 (EDT)\nSubject: [AMSAT-BB] Re: Slide Rules\n\nMy K&E Cooke Radio (version of a Polyphase Duplex Decitrig) sits in its leather case on my desk. I have the original manuals as well. Bought it new from the K&E store in NYC and used while in USCG in ‘70’s and taught at the Electronics Training Center. Marvelous how the batteries are lifetime guaranteed, furthermore the battery “self resurrects” when the rule is passed along to a descendent. My 35 YO son is better with it than I am, but he prefers his circular rule.\n\n \n\nJack Spitznagel – KD4IZ\n\nAssociate Editor – AMSAT News Service\n\nAMSAT Ambassador\n\[email protected]\n\n \n\n \n\n \n\n \n\nFrom: Bob Liddy (K8BL) <[email protected]> \nSent: Sunday, May 15, 2022 12:54\nTo: [email protected]\nSubject: [AMSAT-BB] Re: Slide Rules\n\n \n\nI found mine from xx-years ago and IT STILL WORKS!!\n\n de Bob K8BL\n\n \n\n \n\nOn Sunday, May 15, 2022, 12:39:01 PM EDT, Jim Sanford <[email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> > wrote: \n\n \n\n \n\nJust located mine: In my U.
