"content": "Hello Daniel,\n\nIt is very good to see the development of more sophisticated ground\nstations to operate cubesats and other amateur satellites. Besides the\ndevelopment of more advanced communication systems and protocols, this is\nan area where I think there is a lot of opportunities for development.\n\nDuring the last Cubesat Workshop that took place in Florianópolis, Brazil,\nthere were some discussions about some areas in the design of a remote\ncontrolled ground station that needs attention. More specifically, the\nnotion of a control operator in the amateur radio service (assuming the\nstation will operate in the amateur radio service). It is not always clear\nwho is the control operator when a station (transmitter) is being operated\nremotely, specially if the operation is automated. Things get worse when a\nstation (transmitter) is being remotely operated from a different country.\nThis issue can potentially raise eye brows from a regulatory perspective\nand I believe it would be very important for each project that will\nimplement remote operations to clear the details with the national telecom\nadministrations involved in order to comply with the amateur radio\nregulations and avoid stepping into legal issues.\n\n73, Edson PY2SDR\n\n\n\n---\n- We humans have the capability to do amazing things if we work together.\n- Nós seres humanos temos a capacidade de fazer coisas incríveis se\ntrabalharmos juntos.\n\nOn Thu, Aug 25, 2016 at 12:33 PM, Daniel Cussen <[email protected]> wrote:\n\n> From:\n> https://satnogs.org/2016/08/cnc-librecubesat/\n>\n> Although quite some time has passed since our last update the SatNOGS\n> team and the community was busy working on it’s software and hardware\n> components allowing modular setups.\n>\n> A large amount of focus has being the SatNOGS client software.\n> Allowing the user to not only use RTL-SDR based dongles but a far\n> greater variety of SDR solutions using GnuRadio.
