Most S band d/c's use 2M for the IF. I have used an old TS-700A since the days of AO-40 (sobsob), with the tx disabled. It is still the designated S band RX. I find it cheap insurance in that in the heat of battle (stupidity) I don't accidently tx into my d/c. See you on V/S. \n\n73 Bob W7LRD \n\n\n\n----- Original Message ----- \nFrom: \"Perry Yantis\" <[email protected]> \nTo: [email protected] \nSent: Saturday, August 8, 2009 1:16:29 PM GMT -08:00 US/Canada Pacific \nSubject: [amsat-bb] AO-51 V/S mode \n\nI use a Kenwood ts 2000x for for v/s mode but think you can do it on \nyour Yaesu ft 736 the same way I do here. \n\nI run the SSB 2.4 down converter with 2 meter output down the coax \ninto the shack. \nThen the cable goes into a Hamtronics 2m to 10m downconverter. \n\nThen the now 10m signal goes into the rca jack on the back of the ts \n2000 for a receive ONLY antenna or beverage ant. \nWhen this is used transmitting on 2m does not fry the 2.4 down \nconverter. \n\nMost hf rigs do have this receive only plug on the back. \n\nTry it, works fine for me. \n\nThis way was suggested here on the bbs many years ago. \n\nPerry WB8OTH \n\n\n\n\nI would like to try this mode using a K5GNA downconverter. The problem \nis I am \nusing an FT-736R and apparently you can not have Xmit and Rcv on same \nband in \nsatellite mode. I am using SATPC-32 for doppler control. The \ndownconverter uses \na 2m IF. Anyone else with an FT-736R have this worked out? \n\nMany thanks!! \n\n73, \nAl W8KHP \n_______________________________________________ \nSent via [email protected].
