Moderated has its limitations that\ngive an indication that deaf ears to certain areas do not have a point.\n(Delete buttons work the same on ALL computers!) I believe that the\nwhole idea to anyone's doubts is that we seem to have hit a low point in\nsatellite construction and deployment because of the economic times,\ngetting rougher in the near future. As to those that ask \"where to\ndonate?\" it is your choice to support the kinds of satellites that you\nwant to have in orbit. I think that the amount of posts equals the\nenthusiasm in the satellite community.\nQuestions are a good source of discussion. We Google for information\nthat sometimes isn't there. Answers should come from our AMSAT groups\nbut their hands are tied with ITAR and political issues internal to the\ngroups. If you recall, VOLUNTEERS are those that we rely on from day to\nday operations. Step up to the plate and use your talents where they\nwill add to efforts of the few. Then, find out what time you have left\nto write about the information you need to disburse to fellow AMSAT\nmembers.\n73,\nDee, NB2F\n\n-----Original Message-----\nFrom: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On\nBehalf Of Bruce\nSent: Friday, December 09, 2011 9:41 AM\nTo: [email protected]\nSubject: [amsat-bb] Re: moderated list\n\nHaving been a member of the list since the early 90's, I have seen my\nshare of the same name calling, finger pointing etc. When AO-40 ceased\noperations, there was finger pointing as to who was responsible for what\nand who did what. This went on for weeks and weeks. There have been many\nmore instances of this.\n\n\nWe have always had problems with let's say one person being negative and\nstarting a flame thread going. What makes this list unique is that it is\nnot moderated and everyone can voice their opinion.\n\nHow would you feel if you posted a message to the list and you used a\nword in it that the moderator felt was not appropriate for the list and\nyour message was bounced? It puts a tremendous amount of work and\nresponsibility on the moderator. He cannot do it alone so you will have\nmultiple moderators. Now, you have several people all of which will be\ninterpreting the rules a different way.\nWe see this in the court room on a daily basis. One guy robs a bank and\ngets 5 years another does it and gets 2. One is caught DWI and gets\nprobation another gets 2 years. This is how our messages will be\ninterpreted and this is probably worse than us being able to filter what\nwe want when we want.\n\n\nWhen a thread does not meet my standards, I filter the thread to the\njunk bin and if there is someone that is continuously wreaking havoc, I\nfilter them out.\nI have total control of what I read and see. And, as some have done over\nthe years including board members, unsubscribe. These are all choices\nthat are available to you and none of them needs or requires a list\nmoderator.\n\n\n73...bruce\n\n\n\n\n________________________________\nFrom: \"[email protected]\" <[email protected]>\nTo: \"[email protected]\" <[email protected]>\nSent: Fri, December 9, 2011 3:33:44 AM\nSubject: [amsat-bb] moderated list\n\nAnyone else feel the need for a moderated list?\n_______________________________________________\nSent via [email protected].
