Any help would be appreciated.\n\n73\n\nDave\nG4DPZ\n\n-------- Original Message --------\nSubject: Re: Helping track YES2\nDate: Tue, 25 Sep 2007 19:08:21 +0200\nFrom: [email protected]\nTo: [email protected]\nCC: [email protected], [email protected], \[email protected], [email protected], \[email protected], [email protected], [email protected], \n [email protected], [email protected], \"Ubbels, W-J.\" \n<[email protected]>, [email protected]\n\nNeil,\n\nThe YES2 project very much appreciates the efforts of the GENSO community in\nits attempts to search for and track MASS. We estimate that the battery life\nwould allow for about 10 hours of continuous telemetry transmission, so by\nnow we can assume that MASS is no longer functioning.\n\nHOWEVER, the Fotino capsule should also be broadcasting data in orbit \nfor the\nnext 4-5 days, so the YES2 project would like to request the assistance of\nthe GENSO community to search for and track Fotino.\n\nWe estimate the Fotino orbit to be similar to Foton-M3 but with a lower\nperigee altitude of 230 km. Hence, we expect Fotino to be ahead of Foton-M3\nin the ground track due to the slightly increased orbital period. Rough\nestimations are for Fotino to advance ahead of Foton-M3 by about 1 \nminute per\norbit since capsule release on 07:22 Zulu today.\n\nFotino should be transmitting data bursts of 312 bits (lasting 35\nmilliseconds) every 5 seconds at a frequency of 437 MHz (frequency \nseparation\n26 kHz). Every data burst starts with a sync word EB 90 (hex) and looks\nsomething like:\n\nEB 90 XX XX XX C0 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 XX XX XX XX XX XX \nXX XX\nXX XX XX XX XX XX RR RR\nwhere XX bytes are not constant and the 2 last bytes (RR) the CRC \nchecksum of\nthe previous 296 bits of data.\n\nData encoding is FSK, Manchester code.\n\nAny help from GENSO in finding Fotino would be greatly appreciated.\n\nBest regards,\n\nRoger.\n\n---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------\n\nDr. Roger Walker\nProject Manager (YES2, ESEO and ESMO)\nActing Head of Education Projects Activities Unit (LEX-EP)\nEducation Office, European Space Agency\nTelephone: +31(0)71 565 3349 - Fax: +31(0)71 565 5590\nESTEC, Keplerlaan 1 - 2201 AZ Noordwijk - The Netherlands\n\n\n\n\n \n\n Neil \n\n Melville/estec/ESA \n\n \n To\n 25/09/2007 17:49 [email protected], \n\n \[email protected],\n [email protected], \n\n [email protected], \n\n [email protected], \n\n [email protected], \n\"Ubbels,\n W-J.\" <[email protected]>, \n\n [email protected] \n\n \n cc\n Roger Walker/estec/ESA@ESA, \nFabio De\n Pascale/estec/ESA@ESA, \nAge-Raymond\n Riise/esoc/ESA@ESA \n\n \nSubject\n Re: Helping track YES2(Document \n\n link: Roger Walker) \n\n \n\n \n\n \n\n \n\n \n\n \n\n\n\n\nHi again everybody,\n\nOk, I think that no-one heard anything on this pass. So perhaps the battery\nis already dead, or the tether drag has moved the orbit enough to \nconfuse us.\nBy the next pass the battery will almost certainly be depleted, so I think\nthere is little point in any of you tracking it further.\n\nThank you very much for your help on this. I know that the project team\nappreciate it.\n\nYou can track the further status of YES2 on the ESA website:\nhttp://www.esa.int/esaCP/SEMBBBC1S6F_index_0.html And also on the project\nwebsite: http://www.yes2.info/\n\nKresten, thanks for being so quick off the mark.\n\nAbe and Wouter, reliable as ever - you'd started before I even called...\n\nCarlos, a star, thanks. I'm well aware that I still owe you presentation\nmaterial - I haven't been in ESTEC for more than 5 mins since the \ncolloquium,\nbut I will be soon.\n\nHoward, Dave and Graham, sorry for disturbing you when you have other\npressing non-ham related things to attend to.\n\nIt was anyway a nice demonstration of the GENSO community and what we \ncan do.\nI will send management a mail to that effect. I think >=3 stations with an\nhours notice is pretty good! If only it were all automated already...\n\nMany thanks again to all for trying.\n\nCheers,\n\nNeil\n\n___________________________________\n\n", "attachments": [] }
