That is the\nHigh Rent District, and given how much the commercial users pay, they would\nnot want to have an \"amateur\" satellite wandering around. More practically,\nit would be nice to have a package on a commercial satellite. They provide\nthe power, pointing, and control. We just provide the RF. Again, cost,\nthough we have been looking for the right opportunity. \n\nAnother drawback is that a geosynch only provides coverage to _about_ a\nthird of the earth, and it is always the same third. Birds like AO-13 and\nAO-40 covered just about all of it over the space of a few days. Did I\nmention cost? It is fun to think about having 3 which could be linked for\ntrue global coverage. \n\nAlan\nWA4SCA\n\n\n-----Original Message-----\nFrom: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On\nBehalf Of ka9qjg\nSent: Monday, October 10, 2011 4:23 PM\nTo: [email protected]\nSubject: [amsat-bb] Geostationary Satellites\n\nHello Hope Everyone is doing Well, I know people say no such thing as a dumb\nquestion So here goes What is the reason We do not have any Type of\ngeostationary Satellites. Is it because they are for World Wide Use and If\nstationary one could Hit it 24/7 and Maybe park there butt on it and Run a\nBeam and Amp and take it over \n\n \n\nThanks \n\n \n\n73 De Don KA9QJG\n\n \n\n_______________________________________________\nSent via [email protected].
