"content": "Looking at my previous posting I can see that the RAE\ndata is different from the data on the SEESAT site as\nI am trying to put it into tle format. \n\nAs suggested, it'll be great to run it as a simulation\nusing contemporary keps exactly 50 years old.\n\nI remember some years ago writing a simple prediction\nprogram using some of the TLE data and getting a print\nout from NASA identifying the elements in the two line\nset, and now I see it's reproduced on the amsat'org\nwebsite.\n\nBut I do not know how to calculate the RAAN, the Mean\nAnomolay and the Checksum, and I make an assumption of\nzero drag.\n\nSo far I have:\n\nSPUTNIK-1\n1 000001U 57 1 A 57277.8 .CCCCCCCC 000000-0\n000000-0 0 Z\n\n2 00000165.1000 III.IIII 052000 58.000 MMMM.MMMM\n14.92723492 Z\n\n\nThe bits I don'tknow how to calculate are:\n\n.CCCCCCCC this is the drag factor - can it just be\nset to zero initially?\n\nIII.IIII this is the infamous RAAN - I gather it is\ncalulated from the Mean Motion and a reference time\nbut don't know any more\n\nMMM.MMMM this is the Mean anomoly and again I wonder\nif it can't just be set to zero at least at first?\n\nFinally Z which is line checsksum - I don't easily\nunderstand the definition \"the sum of all integer\ncharacters on a line plus a 1 for each negaitve sign -\nit's the modulo-10 of the sume ofthedigits and\nnegative signs\" (I might get there and will try when\nI've done the rest).\n\nWould appreciate it if amsatters who are better\nmathematicians than I am, could conclude the TLE, then\nI plan to use STS+ in time simulation mode to run it.\n\n73 de andy G0SFJ\n\n\n ___________________________________________________________ \nWant ideas for reducing your carbon footprint?
