"content": "Hi all...\n\nThis works for AZ and EL\n\nWant to know where the Sun is if your tracking software doesn't include the\nSun? Run the free SPC \n\nhttp://web.ift.uib.no/~neda/suncalc/spc.html \n\nTrack the Sun manually with your antenna controller or through your\nsoftware. Note the shadow on the ground that the antennae produce. Crossed\nyagi will show a \"X\" when the antenna is properly pointed. If the antenna\nis too far from the ground or you cannot place anything near the back end of\nthe beam to see the shadow use plan B. Caution! Sight the sun along the\nantenna beam using welding glasses to see that it is pointing at the sun.\nYou can also try the \"pin hole camera\" trick to project the sun's image and\nantenna shadow onto another surface as you do when watching Sun spots.\n\nhttp://solar-center.stanford.edu/observe/\n\nMechanically adjust AZ/EL at the antenna to point at the Sun while the\nrotator controller logically tracks the Sun.\n\nAdvantage of these methods is that it doesn't matter what time of day you\nare mechanically tweaking your antenna and you can take your time loosening\nand tightening bolts on AZ and EL.\n\n\n73, Alan VE4YZ\n \n \n\n\n\n \n\n-----Original Message-----\nFrom: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On\nBehalf Of Chiu-Teng Tsai\nSent: December 26, 2007 11:08 PM\nTo: [email protected]\nSubject: [amsat-bb] How to calibrate the azimuth angle?\n\nDear all,\n\n I am Chiu-Teng Tsai (BM6ERA) from Taiwan. Now we are building a mobile\nground station. One of our problem is how to calibrate the azimuth angle.\nUse compass only, or any better solution? Thanks for your help!\n\nBest regards,\n\nChiu-Teng Tsai\n_______________________________________________\nSent via [email protected].
