So unless you¹re using a fiberglass mast or cross-boom, mount\nthe antenna so that the elements are perpendicular to the mast.\n\nIf you¹re mounting the antenna on top of a vertical mast, orient the\nantenna so the elements are horizontal. If you aren¹t using an elevation\nrotor, you may want to slope the boom of the antenna so that it points up\nfrom the horizon by about 15 degrees.\n\nIf you¹re mounting the antenna on a horizontal cross-boom, so that you can\nuse an elevation rotor, orient the antenna so the elements are vertical.\n\nMany of the satellites have a monopole or dipole antenna and are spinning\nor tumbling, so you¹ll have fading regardless of whether you use\nhorizontal or vertical position/polarization.\n\nHope this helps.\n\n73, Steve N9IP\n--\nSteve Belter, [email protected]\n\n\n\n\nOn 11/18/15, 2:08 PM, \"AMSAT-BB on behalf of B J\"\n<[email protected] on behalf of [email protected]> wrote:\n\n>On 11/18/15, Vinicius Leite <[email protected]> wrote:\n>> Hi Folks!\n>>\n>> I'm novice and sorry if this is a dumb question.\n>>\n>> I have a regular 7 Element Yagi UHF antenna, and i would like to know\n>>what\n>> is the best position to receive LEO birds: horizontal, vertical or 45\n>> degrees to the right?\n>>\n>> I've googled this, but i found a lot of different opinions.\n>>\n>> On the field, if somebody tested this options, can please share the\n>>results\n>> with me?\n>\n><snip>\n>\n>I use a hand-held Arrow dual-band yagi for satellites.
