I have used the MFJ-1717 with a W32A \nHT for a hundred or so contacts.\n\nI was working you from my home station using a cheap MFJ ground plane \nwith a pre-amp for receive on a Yaesu FT-817, and an MFJ Pulsar \ndual-band antenna for uplink with a Yaesu FT-857.
