I\ndid notice the quick doppler change, especially near the zenith.\n\nI'll give it a go on the D72a, if that proves unworkable, I'll set up the\nIcom IC-7000 & HDSDR and see how that goes. \n\nI'm currently working on a pair of Crossed Moxons so I don't have to lug\ngear outside all the time. I'll add the AMSAT preamp, and hopefully that'll\nhold me until I can afford the M2 Leo pack.\n\nNot sure when I'll ahve the time, but now that it's cooling off, we need to\nget together so you can elmer me on the fine art of working the linear\nbirds. \n\nRick Tejera (K7TEJ)\nSaguaro Astronomy Club\nwww.saguaroastro.org\nThunderbird Radio Club\nwww.w7tbc.org\n623-572-0713\n623-203-4121 (cell)\[email protected]\n\n\n-----Original Message-----\nFrom: AMSAT-BB [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Patrick\nSTODDARD (WD9EWK/VA7EWK)\nSent: Tuesday, September 22, 2015 9:46 PM\nTo: [email protected]\nSubject: Re: [amsat-bb] LilacSat-2 over Central US 2340z\n\nHi Rick!\n\nYou should be ready for a downlink lower than what was\npublished. Glenn AA5PK and I were giving each other our\ndownlink frequencies late in the pass, so we could\ncompare where we were listening. If you didn't have more\nthan HT power (5W), you may have also had issues getting\nthrough. Hopefully the FM transponder stays on, as these\nlower passes compared to other satellites only leave me\none workable pass per late afternoon. If only these\nsatellites were launched 60 or 90 mimutes later...\n\nAs for the uplink frequency and where it falls in various\nbandplans, Arizona - like the ARRL's 2m band plan - appears\nto be the exception to the \"rule\" that nobody recognizes\nanything more than 145.800-146.000 MHz for satellite\noperation. I saw this page from the Amateur Radio Council\nof Arizona, which is the coordinator in Arizona, for the\n2m band plan:\n\n<https://t.co/Y8DvZR8q3i>http://azfreqcoord.org/bp/144bp.html\n\nOther than the APRS and AM calling/net frequencies, this is\none of the rare cases where amateur satellite operation is\nactually recognized in a local band plan for this part of\nthe 2m band.\n\nSince LilacSat-2, like most of the others launched over the\nweekend, didn't receive IARU frequency coordination - it\nwon't be eligible for an OSCAR number. A shame, but I\nunderstand the rationale for that. Just give a quick listen\non the 144.350 MHz frequency before transmitting, to make\nsure you don't interfere with anyone else who might be\nthere, before working these passes. And be ready to adjust\nthe downlink quicker than you do with SO-50.\n\n73!\n\n\n\n\nPatrick WD9EWK/VA7EWK\nhttp://www.wd9ewk.net/\nTwitter: @WD9EWK\n\n\n\n\n\n> I saw the message about the FM transponder being on around the middle of\n> the pass, by the time I got my gear out and set up on the VFO (frequencies\n> now in memory) the bird was about 20 degree from LOS.
