"content": "Hi Bob!\n\nDepending on the quality control on the assembly line when that radio\nwas made, it could be useful for semi- or half-duplex FM satellite\nwork. Use two of them, and you could work FM satellites full-duplex.\nThe unfortunate part with most of the Chinese-made HTs is the lack\nof consistentcy in their performance. Some will have good receivers\nand clean transmitters, where others aren't so good - and that is\nwithin the same make and model number.\n\nWith all of that said, I have used pairs of Baofeng HTs to work FM\nsatellites. They can work, but other radios generally have better\nreceivers that can handle the weak satellite downlinks. I have not\ntried any of my Baofengs (UV-5R or UV-82) with AO-85, but I have\npreviously written about using some of those other radios with AO-85\nfull-duplex.\n\n73!\n\n\n\n\n\nPatrick WD9EWK/VA7EWK\nhttp://www.wd9ewk.net/\nTwitter: @WD9EWK\n\n\n\n\n\nOn Fri, Mar 18, 2016 at 5:42 PM, Bob- W7LRD <[email protected]> wrote:\n\n> found this on Ebay-Patrick will know if it works well on satellites.
