"content": "Hi John,\n\nThe physical installation is listed in the documentation with the \nUX-910 1200Mhz Band Unit. If you look on page 73 of the Instruction \nManual for the IC-910H it also gives instructions for installing the \nunit. The operational display is explained in the 910H manual on \npages 19-21. Pressing and holding the BAND M/S button the front of \nthe radio will switch the unselected band in place of one of the \ndisplayed bands. You basically only have to bands that you can \noperate at a time.\n\nI hope that I have not confused you. It is explained in the manual. \nThe manual can be downloaded at the following URL.\n\nhttp://www.icomamerica.com/en/downloads/Default.aspx?Category=31\n\n73 de Skip W7PN\n\n\n\nAt 04:23 PM 12/21/2007, you wrote:\n>Send AMSAT-BB mailing list submissions to\n> [email protected]\n>\n>To subscribe or unsubscribe via the World Wide Web, visit\n> http://amsat.org/mailman/listinfo/amsat-bb\n>or, via email, send a message with subject or body 'help' to\n> [email protected]\n>\n>You can reach the person managing the list at\n> [email protected]\n>\n>When replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specific\n>than \"Re: Contents of AMSAT-BB digest...\"\n>\n>\n>Today's Topics:\n>\n> 1. We all agree (I assume) that amateur radio and\n>satellites is a great combination and fun. I assume most of us love it and\n>those that don't at least make a living from it otherwise they wouldn't do\n>it. In addition, the big majority of us have some grey hairs, but we are\n>still trying to learn and challenge our brains (scary thought). Having said\n>that, when I came back from the AMSAT annual meeting (symposium) this year I\n>felt we missed a great opportunity and to be more specific we have absolute\n>nothing in place to teach and educate our members and the community. Yes, we\n>go to hamfests and events and have a pretty PowerPoint or in the \"parking\n>lot\" demo, but where are the courses, the classes that help us better\n>understand for example the orbital mechanics of a satellites, the satellite\n>communication principles for VHF and UHF, the design of L and S band\n>antennas? All the stuff that goes beyond our basic license and would keep us\n>learning????\n>\n>I look at the ARRL and see many exciting courses and AMSAT has nothing in\n>place. Some of the material has been written up and I applaud Gould Smith\n>and others that took the time to write these documents.\n>\n>The problem is that they are books! No interaction, no feedback, etc. I\n>believe we can do so much more.\n>\n>Why don't we have pre-conference courses at AMSAT meetings that allow our\n>participants to learn? Why don't we offer certificates for continuing\n>education based on accomplishments in learning and become much more\n>educated? Where is the course on emergency preparedness and satellites (GEOs\n>anyone). How do I interpret two line Keppler data and what will happen if I\n>modify some of those numbers (ANDE re-entry anyone)? How about a basic\n>course in SRD or building small beautiful satellites and lessons learned\n>(Bob Bruninga's ideas). All this would add value, probably generate some\n>resources for AMSAT (course fees) and make us proud of learning and sharing\n>knowledge and not just opinions. For example, I would have no problem adding\n>$ 30 -50 to my registration fee for the AMSAT symposium and having a full\n>day workshop. Everyone else is doing it and all the conferences I go to.\n>\n>No, I am not talking about amateur satellite 101 for newcomers (that still\n>is important), I am talking about \"meat\" for those that are part of the\n>hobby already and want to move to the next level of knowledge. We have\n>thousands of members and our pool of potential instructors is big. I would\n>highly encourage the board to seriously look at this. I know that Rick\n>Hambly is fully committed to make the education a bigger part of AMSAT and\n>we need to support him. I for one have no problem in teaching and\n>volunteering for a course at the next AMSAT meeting but it would be very\n>nice if you share your thoughts about this. Maybe it is just me and everyone\n>else is fine but maybe the next \"Orbital Classroom\" is finally that, a\n>classroom and not just a two page paper in the journal!\n>\n>\n>\n>Have a great Christmas and Holiday Season and many contacts in 2008.\n>\n>\n>\n>_______________________________________________\n>Sent via [email protected]. It takes a fair amount of\n> > theoretical understanding to get to the point where\n> > operating practice can yield functional capability.\n>\n>Agree completely.\n>\n>That is why I think a very thin slice of this puzzle is the LEO\n>APRS channel where the sender needs zero knowledge about\n>satellites. He just sets his emergency outgoing message into\n>his APRS radio or TNC, and leaves it running for a few hours,\n>and he can be assured that his email is delivered.\n>\n>If ISS is working, then return messages to the mobile are\n>possible.\n>\n>Again, not at all suggesting that this detract even the\n>slightest from the great initiaves that are now underway for\n>real-time EmComm. But because it is there now (sorta) and is so\n>easy to add to, and can be used by anyone with even the basic\n>understanding of a TNC or packet (though that knowledge has\n>really deminished by an order of magnitude since the 80's and\n>90's), I think it is worth practicing.\n>\n>Also, this EmComm low-rate outbound Email concept has spawned a\n>new look at 6 meter Meteor Scatter comunications using the cheap\n>100W 6m radios that are so easy to find these days. If we just\n>add 6m receivers to many of our existing APRS Igates, then an\n>emergecy email can be transmittied out of an area for an hour or\n>so and have very good probbility that it was deliverd.\n>\n>See the web page:\n>http://www.ew.usna.edu/~bruninga/meteors.html\n>\n>With the global APRS network listening 24/7 everywhere for\n>messages (on VHF, HF, Satellites and now Meteor Scatter, only\n>the sender has to SEND his EmComm Email report, the rest is\n>already done.\n>\n>Bob, WB4APR\n>\n>\n>\n>------------------------------\n>\n>Message: 10\n>Date: Fri, 21 Dec 2007 09:37:20 -0600\n>From: Stefan Wagener <[email protected]>\n>Subject: [amsat-bb] Re: Looks like ANDE is coming down!\n>To: <[email protected]>, \"'Ron Hashiro'\" <[email protected]>,\n> \"'Lauret& Henk'\" <[email protected]>\n>Cc: [email protected]\n>Message-ID: <[email protected]>\n>Content-Type: text/plain; charset=\"iso-8859-1\"\n>\n>\n>Hi Bob,\n>\n>Here you go from this morning:\n>\n>15:22 -15:24 (UTC), 12-21-07; EN19lx\n>...........................................................................\n>\n>Fm ANDE-1 To BEACON <UI pid=F0 \n>Len=39 >[09:22:56]T#001,016,182,155,001,108,00000110,194\n>\n>Fm ANDE-1 To BEACON <UI pid=F0 \n>Len=39 >[09:23:48]T#002,153,159,135,159,150,10101111,381\n>\n>Fm ANDE-1 To BEACON <UI pid=F0 \n>Len=39 >[09:24:08]T#004,017,182,155,001,108,00000110,381\n>\n>..........................................................................> \n>From: [email protected]> To: [email protected]; \n>[email protected]> Date: Fri, 21 Dec 2007 09:27:13 -0500> CC: \n>[email protected]> Subject: [amsat-bb] Re: Looks like ANDE is \n>coming down!> > Ron, same here.
