"content": "Hello Paul,\nyou didn't purchase the wrong radio, hi.\nSatPC32 supports CAT control of the IC-821H. A friend of mine and I myself\nused the IC-821H for several years. I have just tested CAT control of this\nradio once again under Windows 7, 32-bit, and Vista, 64-bit. CAT control\nworks flawlessly. With SSB-satellites I could tune the RX frequency with the\nradio's VFO knob and the program tuned the TX Vfo to the right uplink\nfrequency (transparent tuning).\n\nMy settings in menu \"Radio Setup\":\nModel: IC-821H,\nCAT baudrate: 19200,\nIcom address: $4C (both values, default address of the IC-821H).\nCOM port number of the USB-to-Serial adapter,\nCAT delay: 70,\nOption \"Satellite mode\" checked, all other options unchecked.\n\nI usded a C-17 compatible home build CAT interface (see sub folder \"Icom\" in\nthe SatPC32 program folder) and a Prolific and also a FTD single port\nUSB-to-Serial adapter. Both adapters work. It is most important, however,\nto use Vista and Windows 7 compatible drivers.\n\nMy PC has a genuine serial port and 2 additional serial ports on a PCI card\nand they work also with 32-bit and 64-bit Windows.\n\nFor detailed instructions read the \"Hints[Radio] ... for Icom users\"\n(SatPC32 menu \"?\"). Regarding Vista and Windows 7 compatible drivers for the\nUSB-to-Serial adapters see my website www.dk1tb.de, English page\n\"Downloads\", \"Vistad and Windows 7 Compatiblity\".\n\n55 + 73s, Erich, DK1TB\n\n----- Original Message ----- \nFrom: \"Paul Delaney - K6HR\" <[email protected]>\nTo: <[email protected]>\nSent: Sunday, February 06, 2011 7:06 PM\nSubject: [amsat-bb] Doppler Tuning IC-821H\n\n\n>\n> I just acquired an ICOM IC-821H as I plan to build a satellite capable\n> station.
