"content": "Hi Bill... thanks for your comments and I can see that if you have your\nFavorites or Bookmarks pointing directly to the link you quoted how you are\ninterpreting the use of the log.\n\nI'm not the \"Keeper 'o the Log\" but just added my 2 cents to this thread on\nhow we might address the issue raised by others that the QSO stats have\nbecome meaningless. I'm not a Contester, Grid Square nor DX QSL collector\nso I'm agnostic on the log us.\n\nI suppose I must now offer another option for the \"Keepers 'o the Code\" and\nthat is to modify the logic used to tabulate the stats to exclude entries\nwith CQ or blank, but, keep them in the database as informational.\n\nI hate it when I can see merits on both sides of the discussion. It's so\nmuch easier to have it black or white rather being like an economist \" on\nthe one hand XXXX, but, one the other hand YYYY \" Now that I've insulted\nall Ham/Economists on this list I will retire to the shack to play with my\ntoys.\n\n73, Alan VE4YZ\nEN19kw\nAMSAT LM 2352\nhttp://www.mts.net/~ve4wsc/\nAMSAT A-485\n \n\n\n\n\n-----Original Message-----\nFrom: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On\nBehalf Of Bill Dzurilla\nSent: March 4, 2008 10:31 AM\nTo: [email protected]\nSubject: [amsat-bb] Re: More AO-7 log.\n\nAlan,\n\n>>Or, folks could just use common sense and read the\nsecond sentence at the\ntop of the log - \"IF YOU HAVE A CONTACT TO REPORT....\"\n Oh, we already\ntried that and it didn't work...\n\nAre we talking about the log at\nhttp://www.planetemily.com/ao7/logentry.php ? I do not see the \"If you have\na contact to report\"\nsentence. On my screen, it says, \"Use this form to report contact with and\ninformation about AO-7. It will be stored in our database and provided to\nthe control operators of AO-7. This information will not be used for any\nother purpose other than to provide information about AO-7.\" The\n\"information about\" line implies that more than just QSO info is welcome.\n\nFor the benefit of those not subscribed to this list, I suggest adding the\ncorrect instructions directly on the Log Entry page, something like \"Do not\nenter CQ or anything else in the QSOs box unless you have actually completed\na two-way QSO.\"\n\nOr are you saying not to make an entry at all unless a contact is completed?\nI have been entering any time I could hear my downlink, even if no one\nanswered my CQ, based on the \"even if it was to yourself\" statement on the\nweb page.\n\nI had been entering CQ until I saw this thread, so your posts were not\ntotally in vain.\n\n73, Bill NZ5N\n\n\n\n\n \n____________________________________________________________________________\n________\nLooking for last minute shopping deals? \nFind them fast with Yahoo!
