"content": "This sounds like a nearly ideal LEO satellite.\n\nAn FM cross band repeater to get newcomers to use the satellite \nwithout new investments.\n\nA linear transponder for more serious work that the FM ops can move up \nto. It seems to me that when the FM ops see what others are doing with \nthe linear transponder on the same satellite it will be a good \nincentive to move up. More QSOs, better DX, less QRM.\n\nAnd a digital transponder for those so inclined.\n\nKind of one stop shopping.\n\nIt could be a bit higher, but one can't hope for everything. - Duffey\n\n\n\n\nOn Oct 5, 2008, at 9:56 AM, Michael Chen, BD5RV wrote:\n\n> Hi, guys,\n>\n> Here are some details about upcoming Chinese XW-1:\n>\n> Orbit: Sun Synchronous Orbit\n> Altitude: 499km\n> Inclination: 98 degrees\n> Period: 94 minutes\n>\n> Weight: 35kg\n> Size: 550mm * 350mm\n> Temperature: -20 to +45C\n> Power: Li ion battery: 16Ah\n> Long-term maximum power: 8W\n> Short-term maximum power: 18W\n>\n> Payload:\n> Amateur radio payload: 5.2kg\n> Youngster's experiment payload: 1.6kg\n> CMOS camera: 0.2kg\n>\n> About amateur radio payload:\n> Beacon: 435Mhz, CW 20dBm\n> Linear transponder: RX: 145Mhz, TX: 435Mhz, 40KHz, 30dBm\n> FM Transponder: RX: 145Mhz, TX: 435Mhz, 16KHz, 30dBm\n> Digital store and forward transponder: RX: 145Mhz, TX: 435Mhz, \n> 16KHz, 30dBm\n>\n> 145Mhz RX Antenna: 2dBi, 135 degree, LHCP, unpacked by remote \n> control after entering the orbit.\n> 435Mhz TX antenna: 2dBi, 135 degree, RHCP, unpacked by remote \n> control after entering the orbit.\n>\n>\n>\n> Michael, BD5RV/4\n> _______________________________________________\n> Sent via [email protected].
