I recommend some excellent practical advice\nand charts in the VHF/UHF Manual published by the RSGB. It is easy to\nunderstand and well written.\n\nArt, KC6UQH\n\n-----Original Message-----\nFrom: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On\nBehalf Of Peter Ellis\nSent: Friday, July 25, 2008 3:00 PM\nTo: [email protected]\nSubject: [amsat-bb] Dish surface 'flatness'\n\nI am now the proud owner of a very 'second-hand' 3m mesh-covered \nskeleton dish.\n\nThe mesh covering is metaphorical, rather than actual. I watched the \ndish on its back while as a group of small children rolled the dish back \nand forth and trampled holes in the mesh. That's the reason I was able \nto ask for it. \"Please take it away,\" was the manager's reply to my query.\n\nNow, I need to re-mesh the dish, but I need to decide what 'flatness' \n('true-ness') the surface should be. There has to be a formula, that \nencompasses things like: frequency of operation, curvature or focus \ndistance, etc.\n\nI've done some looking online, but can't find it readily.\n\nSuggestions, and discussion, please?\n\nPlease note: If you're going to also make product, brand name, or \nsupplier suggestions, then be generic as suppliers and products in VK \n(Australia) will differ from where most list members will be sited.\n\nWith thanks,\nPeter\nVK1KEP\n_______________________________________________\nSent via [email protected].
