It will keep the dirt off, but won't offer any protection if you drop it. If you want a bag to carry your entire portable station in, I took Paul N8HM's advice and bought the Amazon Basics camera bag.\n\nhttps://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CF5OHZ2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1\n\nIt holds two 817's, a battery pack, several gadgets, and puts it all at your fingertips. a Grab-n-go solution for a full duplex satellite station.\nI also bought this shoulder strap designed for two SLR cameras, again at N8HM's suggestion. It holds the bag above in place over both shoulders and keep the bag right in front of you. A simple, effective solution.\nhttps://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00508ZURU/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1\n\n\nSean Kutzko Amateur Radio KX9X\n\n From: B J <[email protected]>\n To: Ken M <[email protected]> \nCc: amsat-bb <[email protected]>\n Sent: Saturday, May 6, 2017 8:43 AM\n Subject: Re: [amsat-bb] Field case recommendations for FT-817ND?\n \nOn 5/5/17, Ken M <[email protected]> wrote:\n> Hello all,\n>\n> Any thoughts on field cases for FT-817ND radios?\n>\n> - Protective but slim.
