Your 2-meter FM radio or HT will work well to receive the FM\nvoice messages \nand SSTV on the\n145.950 MHz downlink.\n\nYou will need a SSB-capable receiver to copy the BPSK telemetry beacon, the\nCW beacons, \nand the linear transponder passband.\n\nRead about the details ...\n\n145.950 MHz FM Downlink:\n------------------------\nFM transmissions will cycle between a voice ID as RS01S, select tele- metry\nvalues, 24 international \ngreeting messages in 15 languages and SSTV images. One of the messages will\nbe a conversation \nbetween Yuri Gagarin and ground control.\n\n435 MHz - 145 MHz Linear Transponder:\n-------------------------------------\nThe linear transponder will operate in Mode U/V (70 cm Up, 2m Down).\nIt is an 16 KHz wide inverting passband and the convention will be to TX LSB\non the 435 MHz \nuplink and RX USB on the 145 MHz downlink. This mode is designed to work\nwith low power \ntransmitters and omni antenna.\n\n145.919 MHz/145.939 MHz CW Beacon:\n----------------------------------\nThe CW transmissions will be callsign ID RS01S, select telemetry, and\ncallsigns of people actively \ninvolved with the ARISS program.\n\n145.920 MHz SSB BPSK-1000 Telemetry:\n------------------------------------\nThe BPSK transmissions will feature a new 1kBPSK protocol developed by Phil\nKarn, KA9Q to be \nreadable in low signal level conditions. \nThe BPSK data will transmit satellite telemetry.\n \nThe ARISSat-1/RadioSkaf-V BPSK-1000 downlink is transmitted in SSB mode on\n145.920 MHz. When \nthe CW2 beacon on 145.919 MHz is active this indicates that the BPSK-1000\nformat is being transmitted. \nIf the CW1 beacon on 145.939 MHz is active this indicates the backup of\nBPSK-400 format is being transmitted.\n\nTransmitting at 100 mW, both BPSK rates include Forward Error Correction\n(FEC) and it is expected that\n modest quarter-wave antennas with low-loss coaxial cable will provide\nsufficient signal strength for \ndecoding and display by the ARISSatTLM software.\n\nDownload the Windows ARISSatTLM free ground station soundcard demodulator\nand display software: \nhttp://www.arissattlm.org/download/ARISSatTLM_050_Setup.exe\n\nDownload the Mac ARISSatTLM software:\nhttp://www.arissattlm.org/download/ARISSATTLM.zip\n\nThe ARISSatTLM software user guide is available:\nhttp://tinyurl.com/42uhtyf (amsat.org)\n\nGet your color ARISSat-1/RadioSkaf-V Frequency Guide:\nhttp://tinyurl.com/4t497t2 (amsat.org)\n\nARISSat-1/RadioSkaf-V Presentation Slides (~1MB) http://tinyurl.com/4n4pzkm\n(amsat.org)\n\n[ANS thanks the ARISSat-1/RadioSkaf-V Team for the above information]\n\n/EX\n\n\nSB SAT @ AMSAT $ANS-184.02\nCall For Articles - Brief Author's Guide to the AMSAT Journal\n\nAMSAT News Service Bulletin 184.02\n From AMSAT HQ SILVER SPRING, MD.\nJuly 3, 2011\nTo All RADIO AMATEURS\nBID: $ANS-184.02\n\nCall For Articles - Brief Author's Guide to the AMSAT Journal\n\nYou are invited to share your amateur radio in space ideas and experiences\nwith fellow \nsatellite operators. \nThe AMSAT Journal, a bi-monthly publication of AMSAT-North America, brings\nyou the\n latest information in satellite mission planning, satellite- related\nhardware design and\n construction, satellite-related\n sof- tware design and implementation, and amateur radio earth station\nconstruction.\n\nThere are plenty of opportunities for you to share your ideas and experience\nacross all \nlevels. \nDid you homebrew a successful antenna?
