"content": "Curt, I appear to be encountering similar results as you. 1K2 - excellent,\n9K6 N/G\n\nI continue to experiment with little success using Packet Engine Pro, UISS ,\nsound card and FT847. The FT847 has 2 options - a data IN/OUT jack and a\nPKT 1200/9600 mini-din port. The 3rd is the external speaker and Mic jacks\nwhich I ignore as an option. Further, I've used 2 methods to interface the\nradio and sound card.\n\n- SignaLink SL1+ to isolate the PC sound card from the radio PKT 9k6 port\n- other times a direct connect between the sound card Mic IN/audio Out and\nthe radio data In/Out\n\nSo 2 ways to interface to 2 different radio in/out connections with rather\nshort passes to fiddle with audio levels on the RX side to get a decoded\nsignal and on the TX side to trigger a PTT.\n\nAny combination of the above works wonderfully at 1K2\n\nA further complication is the unknown viability of the sound card to handle\nthe 9K6 well enough to not distort packets and allow the software to decode\nthe packets. For now I'm using a Dell notebook. In a few days I may revert\nto a desktop where I can try various sound cards including the one on the\nmotherboard.\n\nThe net result of this 9K6 experimenting is frustration and reversion to the\ngoode olde PacComm NB96 that works every time and all the time with any dumb\nterminal program, stays hardwired so I can check for the resurrection of\nGO-32 and is one button push away from 1K2 operation using Wisp32, UI-View,\nWinPack or whatever. UI-View, WinPack and UISS work with AGWPE. UI-View,\nWinPack and Wisp32 work with regular comports or USB virtual comports.\n\nI hate the idea that with today's fast processors that we have to revert to\na hardware solution ( TNC ) instead of a \"all software solution\". But I\ndon't mind continuing with this experiment. We're facing a long cold winter\nin EN19 and the shack is nice and warm and the rotator hasn't frozen up yet\n:-)\n\n73, Alan VE4YZ\nEN19kw\nAMSAT LM 2352\n\n\n\n\n\n\n> -----Original Message-----\n> From: [email protected] \n> [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Curt Nixon\n> Sent: December 12, 2008 4:39 PM\n> To: 'AMSAT-BB'\n> Subject: [amsat-bb] Re: ISS 9K6 with ICOM 910\n> \n> What kind of interface are people using between the radio and \n> AGWPE?? \n> I've tried my standard soundcard isolation unit but it doesnt \n> seem to send decodable packets and receives nothing from ISS \n> even though I can hear the signals well.\n> \n> If the transformers are a problem in the isolation method, \n> what is the alternative?\n> \n> I too use UISS and AGWPE for 1200 just fine.\n> \n> Curt\n> KU8L\n> \n> \n> \n> \n> Dave Aitch wrote:\n> > Anyone using the 910 on the VHF port for full duplex 9K6 operation \n> > with the ISS ?\n> >\n> > I use a DSP2232, and of course, the upper part of the 910 does the \n> > transmitting and the lower for receiving, as with GO-32 9K6.\n> >\n> > The hardware/software I use is HALLOSAT by DB3DH, for rotator and \n> > radio control.\n> >\n> > I'm using UISS for decoding/displaying.\n> >\n> > 73, Dave.\n> >\n> >\n> >\n> >\n> >\n> >\n> >\n> >\n> > _______________________________________________\n> > Sent via [email protected].
