    "content": "The TLE set for Sputnik-1 below works in STS+ when the\nsimulated date is set to 5 October 1957.\n\nPlease note the spacing is critical (takes me back to\nthe days of FORTRAN!!).\n\nThanks to John G7HIA for help and to Sil and Farrell\nfor encouragement.\n\nFor the record,, I varied the keps from those given in\nSil's reference on the amsat-bb  (they are the best I\nhave seen):\n\nhttp://www.satobs.org/seesat/Aug-2007/0239.html\n\nI then:\n\na) Accept the coefficient of drag taken from Gerhard\nHOLTKAMP's observations\n\nb) accept his model of Epoch time, Mean motion and\nRAAN (they all fit together - so I have to accept his\nepoch time as well)\n\nc) Change to the RAE observed values of eccentricity,\nargument of perigee and inclination, and calculate\nmean motion by dividing the sidereal day in minutes\n(1436 divided by by the RAE observation of the period)\n\nd) calculate the checksum accordingly (John sent me in\nthe right direction here!)\n\nMy prediction programme STS+, which runs under good\nold DOS, allows me to enter a Simulated Time. I MUST\nset it to 5 October 1957 before running the prediction\nor map features.\n\nPlease note I have written <CR> where there must be a\nline break, you should not include the characters\n\"<CR>\" when you prepare the text file for your\nprogram.
