"content": "Hello John and everyone else.\n\nAccording to the logbook that contact was around 2.5 degrees\nelevation which is very close to my horizon. My best distance would\nprobably be a contact with EI4HT.\n\nAnother feature of AO-40 which may or may not be relevant to your\ntalk Pete, was the variety of uplinks and downlinks. One of my most \nmemorable\ncontacts was with OE1VKW. I was using U/S, he was using L/K. Four \nbands for\none contact. Mind you, he was doing most of the work for that one.\nMaybe not specific to a HEO, but SSB/CW on K-band on a LEO would\nbe extremely difficult. Having an almost stationary HEO made it possible.\n\nHappy days indeed.\n\n73 de David VK5DG\n\nOn 22/03/11 10:02, John Heath wrote:\n> My best DX on AO-40 was VK5DG south Australia from central england.\n> 70cms up 2.4GHz down.\n>\n> Happy days !!\n>\n> 73 john G7HIA\n>\n>\n>\n>\n> ________________________________\n> From: P.H.<[email protected]>\n> To: [email protected]\n> Sent: Sunday, 20 March, 2011 1:17:40\n> Subject: [amsat-bb] AO-40 range record ??\n>\n> Hi,\n>\n> For a small club satellite presentation I will be mentioning the\n> benefits of HEO over LEO and the range advantage.\n>\n> Can anyone tell me the distance record set when AO-40 was alive?\n>\n> Thanks\n>\n> 73\n>\n> 2i0VAX\n>\n> Pete\n> _______________________________________________\n> Sent via [email protected].
