It looks to be a bit\npricy at around $3000 or so, but it will be newer technology. I sold my 910\nto make room for one on my desk :) I did keep my trusty 14 year old 847 I\npurchased new. I would recommend the 847 over the 910, and if you have the\nmeans the 9100 would be my choice...\n\n73 Jeff kb2m\n\n-----Original Message-----\nFrom: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On\nBehalf Of zach hillerson\nSent: Monday, February 14, 2011 21:01 PM\nTo: [email protected]\nSubject: [amsat-bb] Yaesu 847 vs. Icom 910\n\nI am finally in the market for a base station radio for satellites. I\nshould mention that I am also planning to install a wire dipole in the\nbackyard for HF work, but convenience shouldn't be the reason to buy/not to\nbuy a radio.....\n\nIt seems that the Icom 910 and Yaesu 847 are the two main transceivers in\nbase use for satellites. I know some folks are using the Kenwood TS2000, bu\ni t I understand thatit has a \"birdie\" that makes operation on a couple FM\nsatellites challenging. I am hoping to work both the linear and fm birds\nwith this transceiver. \n\nIs there a BB favorite? Have I just opened up a bad can of worms? I just\nwant to make sure that I am purchasing the proper parts the first time....\n\nThanks,\n\nZach\nN4ERZ\n\n\n\n\n \n_______________________________________________\nSent via [email protected].
