Have fun!\n\n\n\nIndependent of scoring (APRS gets no respect at FD anyway)? it is still a\ngood time to play APRS radio and make contacts. Who cares about points\nwhen there are so many people on the air!\n\n\n\nRemember CQSRVR lets you call CQ everywhere in the world from your APRS\nradio out in the field. Just send a message to CQSRVR with the first two\nwords as CQ FD followed by your info.\n\n\n\nEveryone else in the world who has also sent such a message is\nautomatically logged into the CQSRVR and will get a copy. Once you have\nsent yours, then you too will get a copy of all future such messages from\neveryone else.\n\n\n\nCQSRVR just makes the global CQ to everyone else. To make contacts, then\nyou need to initiate a 1-on-1 message to any other callsign you see to make\nthe contact!\n\n\n\nSee details: http://aprs.org/cqsrvr.html\n\n\n\nYou have that expensive APRS radio, USE IT!\n\n\n\nBob, WB4APR\n\n\n------------------------------\n\nMessage: 7\nDate: Fri, 23 Jun 2017 17:31:27 -0400\nFrom: Andrew Glasbrenner <[email protected]>\nTo: [email protected]\nSubject: [amsat-bb] Brazilian 4 Grid Operation\nMessage-ID: <[email protected]>\nContent-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii\n\nI was asked to pass this along:\n\nSirs, next June 23-25, PT2AP and PT2AZ will attempt to activate the GRIDs GH55 / GH56 / GH65 and GH66 simultaneously, Calling North America, South America, Europe and Africa, in Satellite operation.\n\nIt is not yet certain, because we need the authorization of the owner of the Farm, which we will only know when we get there. This is how I've treated them all along. Makes for some\nextra work in submitting my reports to ARRL and AMSAT, but it isn't\nimpossible.\n\nIf other stations call me on an FM satellite after I've made my\npoints-earning QSO, I will work those other stations. I won't score\nthe extra QSOs, but I work those calling me since I could be their\nfirst satellite QSO for the 100-point bonus. When I submit my Field\nDay reports to ARRL and AMSAT, I specifically exclude these additional\nQSOs from my scores. In over a decade working satellites during Field\nDay, this hasn't been an issue for either competition. Same thing when\nI work stations on more than one satellite for the ARRL Field Day\nscoring - log the QSOs, but they don't go into the score.\n\nEven up at 7000-7500' around Flagstaff AZ, temperatures are probably\ngoing to be north of 90F tomorrow. I'll be somewhere up there, hoping\nto find a good spot with some shade, an opening in the forest for\nworking satellites, and some luck to make a few satellite QSOs (plus\nsome propagation on HF and 6m, too). I might even go back to somewhere\non the south rim of the Grand Canyon, if all else fails...\n\n73!\n\n\n\n\n\nPatrick WD9EWK/VA7EWK\nhttp://www.wd9ewk.net/\nTwitter: @WD9EWK or http://twitter.com/WD9EWK\n\n\n\n\n\nOn Fri, Jun 23, 2017 at 7:38 AM, Sean K. via AMSAT-BB <[email protected]>\nwrote:\n\n> Hi all-\n> ARRL Field Day rules lump all satellites together as a single band:\n> \"Satellite.\"\n> While you are limited to one QSO on the FM satellites, there is no limit\n> to the number of QSOs you can make on transponder sats. I for one agree. I don't like the single FM rule or the fact that working w1aw on FO-29 and working w1aw on AO-73 is a dupe in the ARRL rules.?? ? ??? ? ? ?I've thought put w1aw and k6kph on the FM birds with some serious punch and have them hand out contacts on the FM birds. And have them be the only contacts that count...Or drop the 100 point bonus eliminating a lot of folks without satellite experience.\n? ?
