The center is\none of the nine National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP)\nwithin NOAA's National Weather Service. The new name aligns the space\nweather center with the other NCEP centers and more clearly conveys its\noperational nature. The date for the name change is Monday, October 1, 2007.\n\nOur new name will begin appearing in web pages and product headers on\nOctober 1. Some web pages will have an updated 'look and feel' and use\nNOAA web page standards, but the data displays and content will not\nchange.
