"content": "When I had my QSO with Kjell on the ISS back in July 2022 it all \nhappened suddenly and as a total surprise.  I had wanted to have an ISS \nQSO for some time but a little research shows that it's pretty difficult \nand unlikely - so I never burned any calories trying.  July 24, 2022 was \njust another typical ISS pass - typical pileup over the US.  I was just \nfighting to get in a contact or two for the pass and out of the blue \nKjell came on and started having short QSOs with whoever happened to be \non.  It took me a few frantic tries to make contact.  Let me say, it's a \nreal rush to hear \"thanks and 73 from the International Space Station\"!  \nFortunately I was able to find someone who recorded the audio of the \npass and got a copy of it.  After Kjell was back on Earth I was sent a \nsigned picture of him, a short note and a couple of mission stickers, \nwhich I have framed on my shack wall (picture on QRZ).\n\nI indeed count myself very lucky - especially given I wasn't even \ntrying.  Good luck to all that are trying, I wish you all can have the \nexperience.\nN7AY\n\n\nOn 2/22/2023 12:03 PM, Nitin Muttin via AMSAT-BB wrote:\n> My radio has 145.800 in the scan list 24/7 just in case someone calls \n> a CQ, the crew onboard are active and supporting school contacts which \n> is great and I appreciate , I still remember hearing those CQ's from \n> Richard Garroitt (W5KWQ) and Bill McArthur (KC5ACR), Bill logged 1.8 K \n> QSO's with Radio Hams around the world.
