ARISS conducts 60-80 of these special amateur radio contacts each yearbetween students around the globe and crew members with ham radio licenses aboardthe ISS.\n\n \n\nThe MBRSC is a Dubai government organization working on the UAEspace program, which includes various space satellite projects, the EmiratesMars Mission, the Emirates Lunar Mission, and the UAE astronaut program. TheMBRSC actively works to promote space science and research in the region witheducational programs designed to promote a culture based on discovery andexploration in future generations of all education levels.  MBRSC is hosting this ARISS contact for highschool students who will be asking questions in Arabic and/or English.\n\n \n\nThis will be a direct contact via Amateur Radioallowing students to ask their questions of Astronaut Sultan AlNeyadi, amateurradio call sign KI5VTV. The downlink frequency for this contact is 145.800 MHzand may be heard by listeners that are within the ISS-footprint that alsoencompasses the relay ground station.\n\n \n\nThe amateur radio ground station for this contactis at MBRSC, Dubai, UAE. Amateur radio operators using call sign A68MBR, willoperate the ground station to establish and maintain the ISS connection.\n\n \n\nTheARISS radio contact is scheduled for June 1, 2023 at 11:53:35 pm GST (Dubai,UAE) (7:53:35 UTC, 3:53 am EDT, 2:53 am CDT,1:53 am MDT, 12:53 am PDT). \n\n \n\n_______________________________\n\n \n\nAstime allows, students will ask these questions:\n\n1.What inspired you to become an astronaut? \n\n2.What have you learned so far from living in Space and ISS?\n\n3.How do you prepare for emergencies while in space?\n\n4.What is the most important lesson you've learned while being in space?\n\n5.How do you handle waste disposal in space?\n\n6.What do you do to pass the time when you are free on ISS?\n\n7.What is one new thing that you have learned from being in space?\n\n8.How does your experience in space affect your perspective on life on Earth?\n\n9.What is the most beautiful thing you've seen through the window of the ISS?\n\n10.Can you imagine living in space with your family in space and how do you feelabout it?\n\n11.How do you manage to eat and drink in zero gravity?\n\n12.What kind of research are you conducting to support future space exploration?\n\n13.How does your work in space support the study of climate change on Earth?\n\n14.What is the most memorable experience you've had so far?\n\n15.What is the most important piece of advice you would give to future spaceexplorers?\n\n16.How do astronauts cope with the psychological effects of being isolated fromEarth for long periods of time?\n\n17.Do you enjoy posting pictures and videos on social media while in space and whydo you do it? \n\n \n\nAbout ARISS:\n\n \n\nAmateur Radio on the InternationalSpace Station (ARISS) is a cooperative venture of international amateur radiosocieties and the space agencies that support the International Space Station(ISS). In the United States, sponsors are the Radio Amateur SatelliteCorporation (AMSAT), the American Radio Relay League (ARRL), the ISS NationalLab-Space Station Explorers, Amateur Radio Digital Communications (ARDC) andNASA’s Space Communications and Navigation program (SCaN). The primary goal ofARISS is to promote exploration of science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics topics. ARISS does this by organizing scheduled contacts viaamateur radio between crew members aboard the ISS and students. Before andduring these radio contacts, students, educators, parents, and communities takepart in hands-on learning activities tied to space, space technologies, andamateur radio.
