"content": "John\n\nWhat you want to look for is the propagation effects of weather on the\nfrequencies you are using on the satellite. ARRL has some info on its\nsite for 2 meter and UHF. There are other sites that focus on microwave\nfreqs such as 1.2 and 2.4 Ghz. As you found googling \"sats and wx\" are\ngoing to bring up sites related to \ngeostationary sats.\nThe weather effects will be the same between sats and terrestial use.\nIt is possible to have weather caused refraction on your up link or\ndownlink causing the signal strength to be have higher loss then normal\nline of sight.\nHope my ramblings help.\n\nDave\n\nSent with Wireless Sync from Verizon Wireless by DAVE\nDONALDSON-Burnsville MN\nAmateur radio: WB7DRU\nNavy Mars: NNN0AXK\n\n---- Original Message ----\nFrom: \"John Henderson\" <[email protected]>\nDate: 11/27/07 12:10 pm\nTo: \"[email protected]\" <[email protected]>\nSubj: [amsat-bb] Weather Effect\nMy reception on the LEO's has deteriorated over the last week. During\nthis\nperiod we have had some rain but mostly overcast with thunderstorms\nwithin\n50-60 miles. I have checked all the connections, etc on the antenna. The\nnoise is sporadic hum and lots of QRN.\n\nI have searched for \" effects of wx on amateur sats\" but turned up\nnothing.\n\n \n\nWas hoping someone could point me to some info on wx and sats; I know it\nhas\nsome effect on Direct TV etc but need to get to the source of my\nproblem. It\nis there with the PA on and off...\n\n \n\nThanks\n\n \n\n John\n\n John Henderson N4NAB\n\n 212 Bayside Drive\n\n Cape Carteret, NC 28584\n\n 252-725-2744\n\n <mailto:[email protected]> [email protected] \n\n <http://www.amsat.org/> http://www.amsat.org/\n\n \n\n_______________________________________________\nSent via [email protected].
