Anecdotal, not empirical, but I can hear\nthe diff at the push of a button.\n\nNow, I am consider mast mounted preamps as an alternative to my FT-847\ninternal preamps for one of my sites. I run Landwehr VHF and UHF preamps at\n2 other locations and they are terrific! They are also almost 20 years old\nand no longer available :-(\n\nThe preamps on the AR2 site look like what I could use.\n\nMy questions are... Is the sequencer\n\nhttp://www.advancedreceiver.com/page20.html\n\nreally necessary or recommended when using the MSP432VD-25 or MSP144VDG-25\npreamps? My first thought is NO. 15-20 years of use of 4 Landwehr preamps\nwithout a sequencer is my rational.\n\nFinally, does anyone have a nice \"warranty voiding\" hack to get around the\nthese different power connectors we see on indoor preamps and down\nconverters such as my KEPS http://www.keps.it/images/13lnc72db_m.jpg ?\nInstead of soldering to the pin and a ground lug\n\nhttp://picasaweb.google.com/ve4yz.alan/24Ghz/photo#5172119570416133618\n\nSomething as simple as removing the connector from the case and running a\ncable through the remaining hole, soldered internally with something like\nAnderson Power Poles at the other end for 12VDC????? I'm going to do it one\nday, but would rather have someone else confirm that it would work without\nadversely effecting performance characteristics. No guts; no glory here. \n\n\nThanks for any feedback\n\n73, Alan VE4YZ\nEN19kw\nAMSAT LM 2352\nhttp://www.mts.net/~ve4wsc/\nAMSAT A-485\n \n\n\n", "attachments": [] }
