You won't get the full 5 watts out, but\nreceive audio should be unaffected. \n\nPerhaps the audio connectors might be dirty? Also, recall that there is a\ndifference between the V.U.SP jack on the left, and the SP jack in the\nmiddle, with a stereo plug required for the V.U.SP jack. Which are you\nusing? Volume control still work (no dirty wiper contacts)?\n\nI've not used the radio for some years now, though it does still power up\nwith external power... It's a result of the BNC coming a bit loose from the case and\nrotating. Not too hard to fix, but you have to dig really deep into the\nradio to do it (the Tx board is at the bottom of the stack). Then put\nsome locking glue around the BNC.\n\nBut that won't affect the receive audio level, per se, presuming you can\nstill get a quieting signal into the rig.\n\nWith the agile receiver on AO-91, I wonder if the manual adjustment for\nDoppler might not be quite so difficult?\n\nGreg KO6TH\n\n\nJoe Werth via AMSAT-BB wrote:\n> Hi Terry,\n>\n> About 3 years ago, I attempted to use my decades old Alinco DJ-580 to get\nme started in Sats with SO-50. CONUS 488 Grids Completed!\n\nGood evening fellow satelliteers!\n\nFinally, I was able to connect with an operator in FN65!\n\nToday, I had the privilege of working Ken, VE3HLS, on XW-2B during his trip\nto New Brunswick. We completed our QSO when the satellite was at 2? for me.\n\nI would like to publicly express my gratitude to Ken for going out of his\nway to help bring down the \"white whale\", and last grid needed in the 488\nCONUS.\n\nI want to also thank all the satellite operators that made this possible.\nAll credit goes to them! Extra thanks to all those who travelled and helped\nwith multiple grid squares. This has been a fun and exciting 2 years and 3\nmonths of operating Ham Radio Satellites.\n\nMy apologies for the long list.
