ANS reports on the activities of a\nworldwide group of Amateur Radio operators who share an active interest in\ndesigning, building, launching and communicating through analog and digital\nAmateur Radio satellites.\n\nPlease send any amateur satellite news or reports to:\n\[email protected]\n\n\nIn this edition:\n* FO-29 Status Update\n* AMSAT Activities at Orlando Hamcation\n* First call for speakers for the AMSAT-UK Colloquium 2010\n* Satellite Presentation at Palm Springs Desert RATS Meeting\n* ARISS Status - 1 February 2010\n\n\nSB SAT @ AMSAT $ANS-038.01\nFO-29 Status Update\n\nAMSAT News Service Bulletin 038.01\n From AMSAT HQ SILVER SPRING, MD.\nFebruary 7, 2010\nTo All RADIO AMATEURS\nBID: $ANS-038.01\n\nThe JARL FO-29 command team reported on the status of FO-29 this\nweek. After long eclipse periods caused a negative power budget\non FO-29 in early November, 2009 which took it off the air temp-\norarily the command team switched the satellite from continuous\noperation to scheduled operations. This allows the command team\nto monitor the state of the battery charge aboard the spacecraft\nand adjust operations as required.\n\nSince the last commanded power up of the analog transponder on\nJanuary 27, 2010 the command team has received reports worldwide\nwhich indicate that FO-29 has been able maintain continuos oper-\nation. The power budget aboard the spacecraft is improving as the\neclipse periods decrease.\n\nIf the power budget decreases too much the satellite will auto-\nmatically power down. The JARL command team requests telemetry\nreports (either direct or posted via the amsat-bb) from stations\nthat may have data from January 27 to January 28. Additionally,\nif you find the transponder is off during a scheduled ON period\nplease report this to the command team as well.\n\nJARL places no restrictions on the use of FO-29 during scheduled\noperation periods except to remind satellite ground stations to\ntransmit with as low as uplink transmitter power as possible.\n\n[ANS thanks thanks Yutaka Murata, JA1COU and the JARL command team\n for the above information]\n\n/EX\n\nSB SAT @ AMSAT $ANS-038.02\nAMSAT Activities at Orlando Hamcation\n\nAMSAT News Service Bulletin 038.02\n From AMSAT HQ SILVER SPRING, MD.\nFebruary 7, 2010\nTo All RADIO AMATEURS\nBID: $ANS-038.02\n\nAMSAT will once again have a major presence at the Orlando Hamcation\n(http://www.hamcation.com),which takes place next weekend, 12-14 FEB at the\nCentral Fairgrounds, 4603 West Colonial Drive, Orlando. AMSAT Team leader for\nHamcation, Dave Jordan, AA4KN, reports that AMSAT will have a booth \nat the same\nlocation as in prior years (Booth 83 and 84) in the main commercial area. A\nsatellite station will be operating and satellite demonstrations are planned.\nStop by the booth to get a list of scheduled satellite passes on Friday\nafternoon, Saturday and Sunday. Those who have attended Hamcation in \npast years\nwill remember the satellite antenna trailer maintained by the Lake Monroe\nAmateur Radio Society (LMARS); this will be in operation again this year by\nAMSAT.\n\nAn AMSAT Forum is scheduled from 1000-1100 on Saturday morning in the 'Bubble\nBuildiing.' Presenters will include:\n AMSAT President Barry Baines, WD4ASW\n AMSAT Chief Scientist and Board Member Tom Clark, K3IO\n AMSAT VP-Operations and Board Member Drew Glasbrenner, KO4MA\n ARISSat-1 Program Manager and Board Member Gould Smith, WA4SXM, and\n ARISS Hardware Manager and Board Member Lou McFadin, W5DID\n\nPresentations will cover a variety of topics, including an AMSAT Status report\nwhich will discuss AMSAT's strategic direction and focus on LEO satellites, an\nupdate on current satellite operations, and an update on ARISSat-1 which is\nexpected to deploy from the International Space Station in late 2010.\n\nIn addition to the operational satellite station, ARISSat-1 RF hardware will be\ndemonstrated at the booth. AMSAT members and others are also \nencouraged to stop\nby the AMSAT booth to ask questions and meet with members of the AMSAT\nLeadership Team.\n\n[ANS thanks Barry, WD4ASW, for the above information]\n\n/EX\n\n\nSB SAT @ AMSAT $ANS-038.03\nFirst call for speakers for the AMSAT-UK Colloquium 2010\n\nAMSAT News Service Bulletin 038.03\n From AMSAT HQ SILVER SPRING, MD.\nFebruary 7, 2010\nTo All RADIO AMATEURS\nBID: $ANS-038.03\n\nThis is the first call for speakers for the AMSAT-UK Colloquium 2010 which will\nbe held at the Holiday Inn, Guildford, UK\n(same venue as in 2009) on *Sat 31st Jul and Sun 1st Aug 2010*\n\nAMSAT-UK invite speakers, about amateur radio, space and associated activities,\nfor this event.
