ANS\npublishes news related to Amateur Radio in Space including reports on\nthe activities of a worldwide group of Amateur Radio operators who\nshare an active interest in designing, building, launching and commun-\nicating through analog and digital Amateur Radio satellites.\n\nThe news feed on http://www.amsat.org publishes news of Amateur\nRadio in Space as soon as our volunteers can post it.\n\nPlease send any amateur satellite news or reports to:\[email protected]\n\nYou can sign up for free e-mail delivery of the AMSAT News Service\nBulletins via the ANS List; to join this list see:\nhttp://www.amsat.org/mailman/listinfo/ans\n\nIn this edition:\n\n* Huskysat-1 Transponder is Open\n\nSB SAT @ AMSAT $ANS-131.02\nANS-131b AMSAT News Special Bulletin\n\nAMSAT News Service Bulletin 131.02\n>From AMSAT HQ KENSINGTON, MD.\nDATE 2020-May-10\nTo All RADIO AMATEURS\nBID: $ANS-131.02\n\n\nHuskysat-1 Transponder is Open\n\nAfter a week of testing, the transponder on HuskySat-1 is enabled and\nopen for use and testing. It’s fairly sensitive, and 5-10 watts is\nplenty most of the time. There are some fades due to satellite orien-\ntation, and some passes are definitely better than others. The opera-\ntions and engineering teams are also watching a few anomalies. Please\nkeep an eye on the beacon during transponder ops, for those with spec-\ntrum scopes. Strong signals may impact the beacon strength.\n\nHuskySat-1 is the Husky Satellite Lab at University of Washington’s\nfirst cubesat, and the first mission with AMSAT’s linear transponder\nmodule (LTM-1), a V/u transponder and integrated telemetry beacon and\ncommand receiver. UW recently completed their Part 5 operations and\nhave graciously let AMSAT’s Part 97 transponder operations commence.\nThis transponder module is available for use in educational cubesat\nmissions willing to enable the transponder for worldwide use. Contact\nmyself or VP Engineering Jerry Buxton for additional details.\n\nReports and observations are welcome to the amsat-bb mailing list.\n\nCongratulations to Husky Satellite Lab, and to the entire AMSAT\nEngineering team for keeping amateur radio in space. Thanks to Dr.\nMark Hammond, N8MH for commissioning and operations support.\n\n73, Drew KO4MA\n\nAMSAT VP Operations\n\nHuskySat-1 V/u inverting transponder, 145.910 to 145.940 uplink, 435.810\nto 435.840 downlink, telemetry beacon 1200 baud BPSK at 435.800\n\n\n---------------------------------------------------------------------\n\n/EX\n\nIn addition to regular membership, AMSAT offers membership in the\nPresident's Club. Members of the President's Club, as sustaining\ndonors to AMSAT Project Funds, will be eligible to receive addi-\ntional benefits. Application forms are available from the AMSAT\nOffice.\n\nPrimary and secondary school students are eligible for membership\nat one-half the standard yearly rate. Post-secondary school students\nenrolled in at least half time status shall be eligible for the stu-\ndent rate for a maximum of 6 post-secondary years in this status.\nContact Martha at the AMSAT Office for additional student membership\ninformation.\n\n73 and Remember to help keep amateur radio in space,\nThis week's ANS Editor, Mark D.
