I solved it by storing 5 memories for each downlink frequency for that particular sat. When I stored the dlink, I did so with the uplink pl tone on those memories. After those were stored I added the uplink with tones over the dlink frequencies. This process kept me off SO-50 for a couple of weeks but it worked using this method.\n\nHope this helps and sorry if I reposted this method again. \n\nWill \nSent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry\n\n-----Original Message-----\nFrom: \"Call Sign\" <[email protected]>\nDate: Wed, 10 Mar 2010 12:28:12 \nTo: <[email protected]>\nSubject: [amsat-bb] Yaesu VX-7R passing tones in odd band split memory\n\nPatrick,\n\nMy Yaesu VX-7R HT, does not pass tones, in a single memory channel set up \nfor odd band split (2m/440). I experimented extensively by trying to open \nthe squelch on another radio, set to tone squelch, both sides of the odd \nsplit memory had tone and the same tone dialed in before storing each side \ninto the same memory channel, on the HT. To be sure, I brought the matter \nto Ron at Vertex Standard (Yeasu customer service) in Cypress Calif, he was \nsure I was not doing something correct, however, he was only able to \nduplicate my results and could not pass tones, on his test radio, in that \nconfiguration, he followed up by phone after he called engineers in Japan \nfor clarification and confirmation. I have not tested other Yaesu HT's or \nother Yaesu \"radios\", your response said \"on a Yaesu radio\", my post was \nwith regards to my VX-7R. You just have to program the tones with both of the\n frequencies - even if you only need a PL on the transmit frequency.\n Make sure the \"T\" is lit up for a transmitted PL when you are putting\n the first (receive) frequency into the odd-split memory.\n\nMessage: 1\nDate: Tue, 9 Mar 2010 12:01:08 -0800\nFrom: \"Call Sign\" <[email protected]>\nSubject: [amsat-bb] Current Handheld-Which is best\nTo: <[email protected]>\nMessage-ID: <E1FC6357636E42E6BA00A383EE2C8649@agentj07qkr8dt>\nContent-Type: text/plain; charset=\"iso-8859-1\"\n\nHeres another vote for the Yaesu HT rigs; I use a Yaesu VX-7R and I \nappreciate being able to program a single odd band split, memory channel \n(that require no pl), then I use the memory tune (MT) function on the radio \nand turn one dial back and forth to adjust for Doppler and the 2 meter \ntransmit is ready to go anytime I squeeze the PTT. This set up works much \nbetter for me then 5 separate memory channels for every bird. The Kenwood \nHT's wont let you program that odd band split into a single memory channel, \n(dont know about others) however sadly, Yaseu made it so you cannot pass pl \ntones in the odd band split memory channels but of course you can pass pl \ntones in the other memory or VFO modes. \n\n_______________________________________________\nSent via [email protected].
