Especially, experimental / technology\nproof-of-concept demonstration missions find it increasingly more\ndifficult to find spectrum in todays crowded bands. Whilst for some\nmissions, amateur radio spectrum might fit the bill, for others this\nis less suitable since the mission does not fully meet the criteria in\norder to operate in the bands allocated to the amateur satellite\nservice. On the other hand, \"commercial\" or research space allocations\noften are not feasible from a budget point of view because of the\nlarge fees involved, and the associated long coordination times may\nfar exceed the time to design, develop and build a small /\nnanosatellite.\n\nThrough experience from our customers, and also through our own, ISIS\nhas identified this problem as a potential long term showstopper for\nthe emerging nanosatellite market. We will attend the World Radio\nConference later this month as part of the Dutch national delegation.\nAlthough nanosatellite spectrum is not on the agenda of this WRC, we\nplan to make use of the opportunity to informally sound the various\nopinions on this matter and investigate potential possibilities for\ncreating a future proof solution ensuring the spectral needs of the\ncommunity are met. This is potentially in line with discussions\nalready going on in for example ITU study group WP7B.\n\nIf you have any input on this matter, we would love to hear from you\nso we can take this into account during our informal discussions with\nthe various attendants at the WRC.\n\nAlso, if you are present at the WRC yourself, this might be an\nexcellent opportunity to discuss the topic in person. We might be able\nto share some preliminary observations during our presentation at the\nEuropean CubeSat Workshop in Brussels later this month.\n\nkind regards,\n\nWouter Jan Ubbels\n\n-- \nWouter Jan Ubbels, MSc\n\nISIS - Innovative Solutions In Space B.V.\nEmail:        [email protected]\nWebsite:    www.ISISpace.nl\nAddress:    Molengraaffsingel 12-14\n2629 JD DELFT, The Netherlands\nphone:        +31(0)15 256 9018\nfax:        +31 (0)15 257 39 69\ne-mail:        [email protected]\n_______________________________________________\nCubeSat mailing list\[email protected]\nhttp://lists.cubesat.org/mailman/listinfo/cubesat\n\n",
