For about $65, I was able to build a modified\nversion of the K8DAV U-100 Rotor controller, and now my Elk antenna turns\nautomatically and follows the satellites during each pass.\n\nMy particular rotor is the Alliance HIR, which is electrically the same as\nthe U-83 and the U-98, and which I bought for $25. The K8DAV controller for\nthese rotors is the same as the one for the U-100, except for the value of\nthe motor start capacitor. The U-110 takes the same capacitor as the U-100.\n\nThis was a fun weekend project and a very useful addition to my satellite\nsetup. I picked up two of the most expensive parts, the transfomers, for $1\neach at the Goodwill store, in the basket of assorted wall-warts in the\nelectronics section (bring a VOM and test the wall-wart before purchasing).\nYou could also use the transformer and capacitor from the rotor's original\ncontroller, but I was afraid to cannibalize it without being sure I could\nget the new one to work.\n\nOtherwise, the project box was $18, the Basic Stamp board was about $20, and\nthe solid state relays were $7 each on eBay. All other parts were\ninexpensive.\n\nFull plans, files, photos, and links for parts at:\nhttp://www.k8dav.com/ and\nhttp://www.cnyara.com/index.php?name=Content&pid=18&page=1\n\n73, Bill NZ5N\n\n\n\n \n\n\n------------------------------\n\nMessage: 3\nDate: Tue, 26 May 2009 18:01:20 -0500\nFrom: \"George Henry\" <[email protected]>\nSubject: [amsat-bb] Re: CP6 received at last...\nTo: \"amsat bb\" <[email protected]>\nMessage-ID: <1F67839DAF0F435BB31B762508245AA5@parents>\nContent-Type: text/plain; format=flowed; charset=\"iso-8859-1\";\n\treply-type=original\n\nThe frequency update rate depends on the update interval you select under \nthe CAT menu. Note that the interval is the frequency change, not a time \ninterval.\n\nThere are 2 separate tuning interval options you can select: one for SSB/CW\n\nsignals, and one for FM signals. Typically, a tuning interval of 100Hz is \nfine for CW and SSB signals, while the FM interval should be set according \nto the capabilities of your radio and the actual mode of operation. 600 Hz \nshould be fine for FM voice, while a smaller interval might be desireable \nfor packet.\n\nRegardless of the interval you choose, updates will happen faster near the \ncenter of a pass....\n\nGeorge, KA3HSW\n\n\n----- Original Message ----- \nFrom: \"Shamai \"SAM\" Opfer\" <[email protected]>\nTo: <[email protected]>\nSent: Tuesday, May 26, 2009 11:55 AM\nSubject: [amsat-bb] CP6 received at last...\n\n\n> Hi all,\n>\n> Finally succeeded to copy and record CP6 CW beacon.\n>\n> The digital mode sounds difficult to inercept, as it is very short,\n> imediately following the CW transmission, and appears only every 30\n> seconds, which i think makes it impossible to manually tune on the SSB\n> signal.\n>\n> In addition, when using SatPC auto Doppler compensation (programming the\n> IC910H via CAT), the received frequency \"jumps\"every 1 second. Ciaran obtained his full license in April\n2008 and enjoyed organising a very successful ARISS contact between\nBudbrooke School in Warwick, England and Richard Garriott K5KWQ whilst he\nwas onboard the International Space Station in October 2008.\nThe AMSAT-UK shop has been an important source of funds in the past and\nCiaran is revamping the current shop to help it to continue to make a\nvaluable contribution to the funds into the future. The shop has had a\npolicy of only stocking items that are difficult to obtain in the UK and,\ninitially, that policy will remain whilst Ciaran gets familiar with the\nstock and identifies other possible options. \nSuggestions are always welcome and a new email address\n([email protected]) has been setup. Please send the suggestions in\nand keep checking the web site for updates.\nDue to the level of sales of software, and compatibility issues with the\nmore recent Microsoft Operating Systems, it has been decided to stop selling\nInstantTrack and QuickTrack. WiSP and SatPC32 licenses will continue to be\nissued from the shop \nAlso, there are currently no books for sale - we are looking at this but\nsuggestions are always welcome.\nOn the hardware front, we have restocked with the ever popular LVB\nmotherboards and we also have a limited number of complete kits for the LVB\nTracker unit. Half of the new kits also include the AMSAT-NA enclosure with\ncompatible display unit! We are also investigating restocking the 2.4GHz\nsignal sources from G0MRF and the G7HIA 2.4GHz patch kits - please keep a\nwatch on the website for more details.\n \nThe AMSAT UK website can be accessed via http://www.uk.amsat.org/ - the shop\nis accessed via a link on the left hand side of the web page.\n\n73\n\nCiaran\nM0XTD\n\n\n\n------------------------------\n\nMessage: 11\nDate: Wed, 27 May 2009 18:29:03 +0000 (UTC)\nFrom: [email protected]\nSubject: [amsat-bb] IC-1271A available\nTo: [email protected]\nMessage-ID:\n\t\n<3906341.5813511243448943652.JavaMail.root@sz0126a.emeryville.ca.mail.comcas\nt.net>\n\t\nContent-Type: text/plain; charset=utf-8\n\n\n\nHello \n\nI \"may\" have my IC-1271A all mode 1.2Ghz, 10W transceiver, with ATV module,\nand built in? power supply for sale.?
