    "content": "Hi Bob, \nWell,  a  preamp sure helps a lot no matter what antenna you have. \nI always use a preamp when operating portable with the Arrow. \nThat way you can hear the distant passes, as well as being able to \nhear the bird from horizon to horizon with a decent signal. \n\nCouple of examples: \n46 states, 164 grids operating portable from Alabama in about 3 weeks.\n28 states, 60 grids operating portable from New Mexico in 1 week.\n27 states, 60 grids operating portable from Maryland in 1 week.\nWith an HT, Arrow, ARR preamp.\n\nThe way things are going, you'll probably get WAS on FM \nlong before we get another HEO.
