The hamfest wraps up\naround 3pm (2200 UTC), which leaves a fair bit of time in the\nlate afternoon and evening for operating from somewhere else\nin northern Arizona.\n\nI see at least 3 reasonable options for stops I could make on\nmy way home after the hamfest...\n\n1. DM34/DM44 grid boundary, east of Prescott near the I-17\nfreeway. I worked from this spot in late April, and Chris K7TAB\nhas also been on from here recently.\n\n2. DM34/DM35 grid boundary, south of I-40 and the town of Ash\nFork along US-89. I worked from this spot after last year's Prescott\nHamfest.\n\n3. DM35/DM45 grid boundary, either north or south of I-40 near\nParks (about 25 miles west of Flagstaff). I operated east of this\nspot during last year's Field Day, but it has been several years\nsince I parked on this grid boundary to work some passes.\n\nIf I don't bother with stopping at any of these locations, there\nis one place that might be possible - depending on when I leave\nthe hamfest...\n\n4. Either DM36 or DM46, from Grand Canyon National Park. I still\nhave an annual pass to enter national parks, which I bought last\nyear while doing NPOTA, and it is still valid through the end\nof this month. The village on the south rim of the canyon is just\nover 2 hours from Prescott, a longer drive than any of the other\n3 locations I mentioned.\n\nDepending on interest and available passes, I might be able to\nwork from two of these 3 locations. Since I have been to all of\nthese spots several times in the past, I'm happy to visit one or\ntwo of them next Saturday for those looking to mark some grids\noff their maps.\n\nAs with all of my satellite operating, QSOs will be uploaded to\nLogbook of the World. If you would like to receive a QSL card for\na QSO with WD9EWK, please e-mail me directly with the QSO details.\nThere is no need to first send me a card or SASE to get my QSL\ncard.\n\nUpdates on Saturday afternoon and evening will be posted on my\n@WD9EWK Twitter account. If you don't use Twitter, you can see\nthese updates in a web browser at:\n\nhttp://twitter.com/WD9EWK\n\n73!\n\n\n\n\n\nPatrick WD9EWK/VA7EWK\nhttp://www.wd9ewk.net/\nTwitter: @WD9EWK or http://twitter.com/WD9EWK\n", "attachments": [] }
