Instead, they use \"power \nstealing\" from the RS232 line. This doesn't always work.\n\nIt certainly won't work if the TTL <--> RS232 level shifter you use to \nconnect to the rig also tries to \"power steal\"\n\nThere is another option. I see RS232<-->USB converters sold here that \nuse 3.3 and zero volt levels, rather that -12 and +12 volt on the RS232 \nside. Since you are building you own interface, you could use these \ninstead. From memory, the FT736R uses inverted signals on the TTL side, \nso one TTL inverter chip would probably be all you needed (oh, plus a \n7805 or similar)\n\n\nSil\n\nZL2CIA\n\nNorman W Osborne VE3CJE wrote:\n> Hello everyone,\n>\n> I am building an interface for a 736r doppler control and I will be needing\n>\n> a USB-to-Serial adapter.\n>\n> Looking on ebay I see many choices and prices.\n>\n> Have any of you bought any of these adapters??\n>\n> \n>\n> Any suggestions appreciated.\n>\n> \n>\n> 73,\n>\n> Norman.\n>\n> \n>\n> \n>\n> _______________________________________________\n> Sent via [email protected].
