That\nnarrows it down quite a bit. AO-51 and SO-50 are FM voice birds. PCSAT\nand ANDE are FM Packet birds and ISS is either FM packet or you can talk\ndirectly with the crew on rare occasions.\n\nOther satellites use SSB capable radios or operate on different bands.\n\nThere are some great articles for first time users at\nhttp://www.amsat.org/amsat-new/information/faqs/index.php and I\nrecommend the \"Working the Easy Sats\" article since you are interested\nin FM operations.\n\n\nKenneth - N5VHO\n\n-----Original Message-----\nFrom: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On\nBehalf Of Dave Bannerman\nSent: Monday, November 12, 2007 9:49 AM\nTo: [email protected]\nSubject: [amsat-bb] Need quick start info please\n\nI am interested in working some satellites and have had success at least\ntracking and hearing AO-51. I use Orbitron racking software and my\nEquipment\nconsists of a Yaesu FT60 HT programmed with separate up/down frequencies\nfor\nthe AO-51 bird. My question that I have asked at least 3 other people is\nWHAT ARE THE OTHER V/U SATELLITES I CAN USE THAT PASS OVER CALIFORNIA,\nAND\nWHAT ARE THE SCHEDULES / STATUS'S OF THESE SATS? Everyone I spoke with\ntells\nme the same thing, go to amsat website. Well I am confused by all of the\nold\ndata that is posted there. All most all of the FAQ and WEEKLY STATUS\nreports\nare 3-5 years old. Can someone just help me out and list the currently\noperational V/U sats that I can work? Would also appreciate comments on\nbest tracking software, antennas or whatever you can offer to help me\nget up\nto speed. Thank you.\n\n \n\n73\n\nKI6GVL\n\n_______________________________________________\nSent via [email protected]. Opinions expressed are those of the author.\nNot an AMSAT-NA member?
